FReeper Storm Check-in (vanity)

Through the week, many of us heard of FReepers who were in the path of Isabel. I personally know Gabz, Corin Stormhands and Consitution Day were in the area. I thought it would be a good idea if we had a thread to ask if someone is ok and let them check in. Prayers to our FRiends in harms way. Thanks!

You and me both - I lost phone and cable.
I consider myself extremely lucky - it could have been far, far worse.

I'm ok. Lost power almost immediately Thursday morning. Power came on at 5 the next morning (I live almost next door to a Hospital), but I've been at work since 6 am Friday. Just got home for a bit of rest, food, and such. I expect to be called back in anytime.
Thx for asking. I'm off to bed now....

Thank your for your thoughts about my friends.
They are doing much better. One is discharged. All will fully recover. (5 are dead here from trees).
Incidentally my friend is one of us. Although not a Freeper officially, he shares our views and he worked for the Reagan team for a while.

Well invite him in, when he is all better. (A tree! How scary!)

Has anyone heard anything from the Baltimore, MD, area which was extremely hard hit, as I understand it?
Okay, in AZ we have hurricane news, too. A new hurricane, I think it's called Marty, is setting up in the Pacific Ocean. The size is from LA to Rosarita Beach, Mexico. Pretty long swath of a 'cane. We usually get the aftermaths, wind and rain. We could use rain.
Cyber today just set up my misting system in my garden. The heat is killing my baby plants. Dang. But now we can get the winds to kill the rest of them off. You just can't win for losing. LOL! I do have a non-wind area where I can put all the potted things, but they don't grow as well as stuff in the ground.
This won't be 1/20th of what you guys have gone through, but thought I'd let all of you know.

I just heard on the radio that the Fire departments are assessing the damage in Baltimore.
Being from Cleveland, I hope the Ravens were blown into the ocean or at least Art Modell!
Sorry about your plants. We just had a well dug this year. It has saved us tons of money in yard water!!

CobaltBlue - you can get updates from Fairfax County Water Authority's web site:

That would be Interesting Times. He has not checked in at all since a little after it happened. We're still waiting on him.
Where are you, IT?

Have you heard any news from those areas? That's an awful lot of rain for those areas, with the potential for landslides and flash flooding. I heard that Stanton and parts of the Shenandoah Valley got hit pretty hard and that Rte. 81 is a bit of a mess in places.
At least my damn cables back on and I can watch the football games tomorrow!

I posted this on the wrong thread, so I'll post it here now.
Duh!
My guess is that he is too busy cleaning things up to FReep.

Tree in roof - understandable we haven't heard from IT.
I flipped out reading a story in one of the Delaware papers this morning.
ATTENTION new moms - if the baby is fussing take care of him or her.
A fussy baby saved the life of both the baby and the mom. Minutes after mom had picked up baby from crib and went downstairs, a tree crashed through the roof of the house and totally wiped out the baby's room.
If I remember correctly there were a couple of people who don't live on the east coast that said 98mph wind gusts wouldn't hurt anyone, inless maybe they lived in a trailer park. Gee whiz, this was a 2 story house.............

Gee whiz, this was a 2 story house.............Winds here only got to about 50 mph and I certainly am glad the the big tree limb in my yard didn't hit the house...
I still don't know what the wierd noise was that I heard at about 11:30 was.
