Through the week, many of us heard of FReepers who were in the path of Isabel. I personally know Gabz, Corin Stormhands and Consitution Day were in the area. I thought it would be a good idea if we had a thread to ask if someone is ok and let them check in. Prayers to our FRiends in harms way. Thanks!

Has anyone heard from her? I read from the other thread about her baby-sitting, because of her SIL's health problem.
Here's praying she is just exhausted from the combination of several stressful situations.

"We still haven't heard for you guys yet."
Thanks for thinking of me, Slip18, but now I'm really embarassed. I'm on the left coast. I was trying to help a little by researching then posting information and updates about the storm.

Thank you netmilsmom for posting this. It's very touching to see the care and concern within our FR community and to hear from those affected by the storm. God Bless.

LOL--moved here from NC! Grew up in Charlotte, went to UNC-CH, lived in Durm for many years. Love it down here. Still have operations up in NC. Love the water, weather, the slower pace on the Gulf Coast from RTP--and I just adore NO STATE INCOME TAX!

I remain unsure which water facility serves me, but I just noticed while flushing the toilet a while ago that our water pressure is down. Looks like I should be boiling.

Who keeps old water bills around after they've been paid?

I would boil the water anyway until the all clear. We had to boil for baths! after the blackout. We had bottled for drinking and coffee but my neighbor gave her 5 year old disabled daughter a bath in the water and she had a real mess the next day. (this girls in depends) My girls (with blonde hair) were begining to look like brunettes by the end of it!

We're OK here in the Philly suburbs. Our basement stayed dry and the creek stayed in its banks, both of which were unexpected. The wind howled, the rain pounded, but by morning it seemed that downed limbs were the worst of it for us. Power was restored around noon today after an 18 hour interruption. Cable and DSL line were faster.
Our only big problem was a partially uprooted tulip poplar which we discovered aimed at our house this morning. We were blessed with a tree service which arrived within 10 minutes of being called. They were able to stabilize and drop the tree and its neighbor without damaging the house. How we ever found a tree service for an urgent visit today I'll never know. We were plumb lucky. Expensive, but could have been far worse. Our generator earned its keep too!

Oh, I doubt you'd make a lousy pioneer, Abner. Electricity still not working? Man alive, I couldn't handle that for more than a couple of hours hereNo, really. I would make a really BAD pioneer. I need electricity!!!! Back to nature? Not on your life. Give me electricity at minimum. I go charge the computer with the inverter in the truck and come back online for a while. Pathetic really. As far as temperature, it is comfortable. Still no power at the house either.

Hey, everybody! I am just back from my stepdaughter's house inside the Beltline in Raleigh; last night we thought her husband had had a heart attack, but it turns out he has very, very low blood pressure, violent heart burn, and some liver numbers didn't come back right, so he has a round of appointments with various and sundry doctors next week, but at least he is okay and now at home.
After the storm, and trying to clean up all the mess in the yard, it wasn't a very good night, but I am thankful that we are all alive and apparently well.
I'm so glad the rest of you are okay. I guess we all did pretty well!
