Hey, everybody! I am just back from my stepdaughter's house inside the Beltline in Raleigh; last night we thought her husband had had a heart attack, but it turns out he has very, very low blood pressure, violent heart burn, and some liver numbers didn't come back right, so he has a round of appointments with various and sundry doctors next week, but at least he is okay and now at home.

After the storm, and trying to clean up all the mess in the yard, it wasn't a very good night, but I am thankful that we are all alive and apparently well.

I'm so glad the rest of you are okay. I guess we all did pretty well!

Last night in WNC was a bit unusual. No damage, of course, our mountains sheltered us from anything bad. But it was WINDY -- far more so than was the case during Floyd. I would guess that between 8-11pm we were getting a fairly steady, brisk breeze in the 10-15 mph range, with periodic strong gusts into the 20-30 mph range. We don't often get that much wind. This was probably about twice the wind speeds that we saw with Floyd. I don't mention this to suggest any comparison with what you folks farther east went though, just an interesting little FYI footnote.

Someday one of those things will punch through the mountains and dump a couple feet of rain on us, then it will be our turn to suffer!

very, very low blood pressure, violent heart burn, and some liver numbers didn't come back right

My mom did that to herself after she hurt her back, taking WAAAAY too much Ibuprofen and Motrin and drinking wine. Perforated her stomach and lost a lot of blood, and didn't realize it.

Internal bleeding from over-the-counter painkillers is more dangerous than people realize. They figure it's over-the-counter so it can't be dangerous.

Good to hear from you and that you are safe and sound. It's great hearing that your son-in-law is okay for now and that he will follow up with more tests.

Hi - just checking in. I have been outside cleaning up, with about 5% finished. :-(

I'm glad to see you're back and to hear that it was NOT a heart attack. We all have a lot to be thankful for after weathering this storm!

Well, after perusing the thread, I'm glad to see most of the names that were on yesterday when the storm hit. I hope everyone is doing OK.

I am SO relieved to hear that your son-in-law can be evaluated and treated as an outpatient, rather than the feared heart attack. Great to see you back!

Glad to hear you SIL didn't have an MI. Also glad to hear that you are ok too and have just clean up like us. We were VERY lucky here in Raleigh.

After watching the news footage of the damage done elsewhere I thank GOD it turned out well for us here.

Now get some rest woman!! That's an order.

MKM
