German Man Attacks Co-Workers With Sword

By OLIVER SCHMALE,
Associated Press Writer

PFORZHEIM, Germany - An employee attacked co-workers with a samurai sword in the offices of a mail-order warehouse in southwestern Germany on Tuesday, killing a 27-year-old woman and seriously wounding three others before turning the blade on himself, police said.

Police arrested the 24-year-old attacker, who was seriously hurt, at the scene. The sword was an office decoration which he grabbed after walking into the Bader company in Pforzheim, west of Stuttgart, police said.

The man had lost his driver's license the night before after failing a drunken-driving test at a police checkpoint, authorities said, adding that they were investigating whether that might have motivated his rampage.

The injured women, ages 20, 34 and 57, were taken to hospitals. Police sealed off the company offices and other employees were receiving psychological counseling.

What a piece of crap. He attacked the women? His punishment should be to allow the women to use him as a pinata with said sword, seeing as how the police deemed it unnecessary to shoot him.

The Samurai sword is classed as an assault sword. I thought the Europeans had banned all Assault Swords and allowed only Hunting Swords to be used by trained and registered Sword Hunters.

I've seen Samurai swords on sale at knife shops before here in Germany. I doubt that most shop owners know that particular law. We will likely see some kinda law enacted to totally stop all knife sales in the future. My guess is that this guy should have been mentally evaluated years ago, and had a major problem of some type...rage, mentally ill, etc. The Germans have a big problem in forcing people in for mental exams, and then locking them up if they are a threat. There are probably 20,000 Germans on the street like this nut. Thats the scary thing.

The total would be exponentially higher here in the US. Fear not, be vigilant.
