Whole milk is fattening and it tastes like your drinking butter.

Drink skim milk, it's better.

It's white water! I'll keep drinking my 'butter' thank you.

(I could use some extra ballast anyway ;-)

Skim is blue and revolting. 1% is the minimally tolerable product.

Maybe for adults --- but kids need all the fat soluble vitamins you find only in whole milk. They also need fat.

That's your opinion, fine. But it's not unanimous. For the small amount of milk I drink (in tea in the morning, occassionally with a health-powder mixed in for a snack), I find that whole milk is more filling and it doesn't spoil as quickly.

Drink skim milk, it's better.

Again, that's your opinion. For growing students who get very hungry during the day, I would suspect some filling whole milk is healthier than filling up on junk food snacks. And, because of the spoilage issue, keeping it drinkable in school cafeterias creates whole new issues.

Again, this is more of the pc nonsense that makes no sense. We keep reading that kids are heavier than ever. Maybe, just maybe, it's because of high fructose corn syrup and other junk in their foods. That, and the time they spend at sedentary activities instead of active play just might be the issues.

Of course, a true conservative would say that students shouldn't be getting any kind of subsidy for lunch, and the parents should be providing what they eat.

<^..^>

It's not the fat in milk that is fattening, it is the lactose (sugar). Skim milk is much worse for you than whole. The % sugar content of skim milk is very high, and stimulates the pancreas to secrete insulin, the fat-storing hormone. Any unused sugar in the bloodstream gets stored as fat. The fat in whole milk mitigates the "sugar blast" by regulating the absorption rate of the lactose. Skim milk is worthless poison. My father always told me that skim milk is the waste from the cream making process they used to feed to the hogs to fatten them up. It is nutritionally worthless.
