Whole milk is fattening and it tastes like you're drinking butter.

That's your opinion, fine. But it's not unanimous. For the small amount of milk I drink (in tea in the morning, occassionally with a health-powder mixed in for a snack), I find that whole milk is more filling and it doesn't spoil as quickly.

Drink skim milk, it's better.

Again, that's your opinion. For growing students who get very hungry during the day, I would suspect some filling whole milk is healthier than filling up on junk food snacks. And, because of the spoilage issue, keeping it drinkable in school cafeterias creates whole new issues.

Again, this is more of the pc nonsense that makes no sense. We keep reading that kids are heavier than ever. Maybe, just maybe, it's because of high fructose corn syrup and other junk in their foods. That, and the time they spend at sedentary activities instead of active play just might be the issues.

Of course, a true conservative would say that students shouldn't be getting any kind of subsidy for lunch, and the parents should be providing what they eat.

<^..^>

Got to agree with you on the milk. Kids need butterfat. It helps with neurological development. Remember: fat does not make one fat. It's all the carbs we feed our children.
