Geoghan killed in prison (Boston Herald)
Breaking news/by Eric Convey
Saturday, August 23, 2003
Former priest John Geoghan, a notorious pedophile whose case sparked the clergy molestation scandal of the past 18 months, died this afternoon after being attacked at the state prison in Shirley.
``The perpetrator has been isolated,'' said Kelly Nantell, a spokeswoman for the state Deparment of Corrections.
``Our investigation continues,'' she said.
The matter has been referred to the Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley's office.
Geoghan was serving a nine-to-10 year sentence at MCI Shirley for allegedly groping a boy at a Waltham swimming pool.
More than 140 people have claimed they were abused by Geoghan, claiming they were fondled or raped at locations ranging from church rectories to their own homes.
Geoghan would become one the most notorious pedophiles in the country - not only for the extent of his rampage against children but because relevations about his case led to the unraveling of secrecy within the Archdiocese of Boston.
Bernard Cardinal Law's cordial letters to Geoghan, mixing discipline with praise for his priestly service, that pushed many victims from disbelief to outrage.

I understand your point, and I wish I could agree with you. Alas, I've been in discussions where there was a lack of honest and frank debate, and it wasn't condusive. I prefer it be honest, and pointedly brutal and blunt, where the discussion isn't hidden by political correctness nor colorful windowdressing. I find that this prevents the question of "What is the definition of
Is?"
I rather take the beautiful with the ugly, if anything, just to appreciate the beauty more.

"It's good to see him dead, as long as the deed is done by some nameless, faceless sh!t in a state prison." How is that hypocritical? Sounds win-win to me.

The ABSOLUTELY UNTHINKABLE deceit and horror perpetrated by a man and his enablers against the GREATEST hopes and ideals of MANY innocent loving children, parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, parishoners, etc., etc...

Maybe, but I don't believe a sinner can be absolved of his sins unless conscious, morally aware of his transgression, and truly, truly repentent. There is NO evidence Geoghan ever was.
The man was evil, and his enablers are evil, and the whole rotten corrupt system of collusion and conspiracy is evil. All those bishops conspired in a 50-year reign of terror. The rot has been exposed ... let the Church rebuild without the defilers who debased it.

Maybe he ran into some poor soul who's life was ruined by being attacked by a priest.
His kharma came around to greet him.
May he rot in hell.

Great points. The Central Park jogger's attackers all confessed on tape with parents present, somehow the technicalities got most of them off. I thought at the time that the Rodney King police may have beaten more than needed just because they knew this guy would never be properly punished. There must be a balance somewhere between the Taliban and the liberal judges.

Priests are supposed to be the safest people you can go to. Many women who I sold Avon products to, expressed that sentiment when this started coming to the surface. They were taught that if you were in trouble, even as Southern Baptists, if you can't find a cop, find a Catholic priest :(

Anyhow it's hardly just an issue in the Catholic Church, there is one large Protestant church that has recently accepted homosexual activity. Congressmen had their own scandal with their young pages being sodomized. Liberalism infects many aspects of our society. With all due respect, there is something not quite right with your statement. I think it was the Consevatives in the church involved in the decades-long coverup of priestly pederasty.
It was the Liberals who brought sexuality "out of the closet", which resulted in this commonplace practice of child abuse in the Catholic Church being exposed. Until the Liberal press revealed these crimes against children, people refused to believe it was happening.
Here I am defending the Liberal press! I can't believe it!

I don't FEEL anything. I THINK that if one is stating one's own personal opinion, as opposed to a documented FACT, one should be willing to acknowledge such.
You stated your OPINION....I don't have a problem with that. I was MORE interested in whether your opinion was based on fact, or personal agenda/experience. Your failure to provide documented data to support your OPINION....told me what I wanted to know. Thank you.

As with Dahmer, we have come to the point thanks to the libs where society has had the bar lowered so much, we now let the worst of us decide what the line not to cross is, and the libs wonder why the 2nd Amendment means something to us.
The lowest dregs have decided that murder is okay, but eating human flesh, and having sex with kids is too much for them.
Maybe we should change the rules and let the murderers carry out the death penalty for us, they seem to be able to do it without blinking. While the libs want the rest of us to close our eyes to the human garbage that commits the crimes.
