Niagara power officials deny lightning strike.Man, this is not good.

With hope she's holding a brown bag and gulping loudly and sitting in the gutter. Oops, that was nasty. But funny!
To: Doe Eyes
So now Niagara officials deny there was any lightening in the area or any kind of strike. So the Canadians lied. CNN lied when they said "US AND Canadian officials agree it was lightening".

Officials are now saying this was impossible for a lightning strike to cause this. Denials are flowing in now that this was NOT a lightning strike.......

I don't want to bicker about this, but I don't think the lights we see represent power restoration. I think we are seeing a combination of emergency battery lighting and buildings that have generators.

The speculation among governmental officialas - Canadian and US - is ridiculous. The speculation from utility officials will be more credible, since they will have some solid information. All of the electrical events are recorded at multiple locations - there is a footprint and a timeline. We will know within a few days what happened and when. The whys will come out after that, as will the "how to prevent in the futures".

If our electrical system is so whacked that a bolt of lightening can do this much damage....we're in deep doo doo.
That is, of course, just my opinion.

We are hearing he already taped a message to the nation and they are going to air this in a few minutes.....
..."There was no lightning strike. Never! Saddam controls your grid."
To: lelio
Heard he would speak to reporters and it won't be broadcast live.

I disagree. I saw huge chunks of power popping on in several buildings. Both CNN and MSNBC confirming power is slowly being brought back online. But it is cable tv news!

I have a hard time believing that the grid is that vulnerable. I tend to believe it's the BIG LIE. Yep that is why the Canadian government is stating that it was a lightning strike on a cloudless afternoon in the eastern US and Canada, that caused the massive blackout.
