The way I see it, in a hugh instance where the world was really coming to an end, we'd all be here typing away instead of panicking or clinging to our loved ones. Am I right?

My wife sits right behind me in the same room and we both post here on FR, so fortunately I can post, panic, AND cling all at the same time!

(BTW, power's on in central South Carolina...if this thunderstorm doesn't take it out...)

Bioterror, huh? Where does a thought like that come from? Oh, I know. From someone who really hopes this isn't terrorism.

Amen brother! Open the markets up and everything will be just grand, they say. Hey, IPP's will take care of everything. Of course, if we don't start building some transmission lines to handle all of this new generation, it doesn't do much good.

Yep - free markets are fine, but the infrastructure isn't there to do so in this industry. Nor is it in the grid owner's best interest to improve the infrastructure, given that that opens doors for others to take their own customers (and only the good customers, of course).

The de-regulation experiment in the US has failed for standard, sound economic and engineering reasons.

I don't want this to be terrorism, but it certainly is irresponsible and mind-boggling that the government could come out within minutes and completely deny any possibility of it.

That's just insane.

Welcome to the 21st century.

L Ron Hubbard was right.

Woa! That's one nasty computer worm, if your scenario is right.

I hope you are wrong.

"I'm also incredulous at those here on FR who simply accept that this isn't terrorism and is just a 'hiccup' because the government says so.

Man, is everyone so naive?

I'm not saying everyone should head for their bunkers, but for godsake, a little incredulity at such a blatant write off of the possibility by the government would sure serve everyone better, right now."

Well said.

The government has no other choice but to deny it's terrorism at this point. And even if they ultimately do find out it is terrorism, I'm not sure they'd get around to telling us, unless it suited their purposes.

If I had my choice, I'd rather be stuck in a subway. You're underground so it has to be cooler, plus a subway car is not as claustraphobic.

Plus, they should have manually accessible emergency exits.

Not that you'd want to walk along the dark tracks, but if a conductor has a flashlight, you can at least get your ass out of there.

guess who's talking on MSNBC. NM Governor Richardson

Well, he is a former head of the Department of Energy under the Clinton Administration. You remember, the same Energy Department that gave away our missile technology to the Chinese. /sarcasm off
