Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

I actually caught that typo...but decided to let it ride.

Thank God Texas has its own power gridGuess you missed my post about calling LCRA (THE major producer) and they knew nothing about it. They're just a bunch of nimrods who never know anything outside their cubicles. Still, I don't think it's terrorism but most likely heat related.

I hope those in elevators get helped soon. No food, no water, no toilet, no air conditioning...Yeah, can you imagine how many elevators are in the NY area?

This just in:
Baghdad is experiencing blackouts too!

I just hope the Minutemen and Tridents are on Defcon 4 at least.

No, your theory doesn't hold long term, becuase you need to subtract the massive social services sucked up by all the babies born to welfare mothers out of this outage...
To: Diddle E. Squat
That is correct. Also, you've got to make sure that you have the generation available to meet the load pickup as you bring big blocks of load back on. I can tell you from experience that those folks in the control centers are having on hell of a day!

Someone posted this link to a site listing previous power outages:
http://blackout.gmu.edu/highlights/timeline.html They are few and far between and I am not sure whether any of them were this bad or extensive.
CNN said FBI is suspicious about the way it happened.
To: Joe Hadenuf
They didn't say, just that reports were coming in that Pennsylvania had power outages ..... Thanks, I wasn't listening closely and didn't know if I had missed vital info. My parents are travelling between KY and Maryland today. Mom tends to panic, I hope they are home or real close to home.

Most frozen foods, if the DOOR IS KEPT CLOSED, will last about 24-48 hours frozen.
After that, they're not frozen--but if still cold they'll keep for another several days.

I'm stating a simple fact; I don't for one minute buy that this is just a "hiccup".OK, bucko. Since when is YOUR uninformed, in-expert opinion considered a FACT?

Maureen Dowd/Molly Ivins: "It's not surprising that President Bush can't get the power working in Iraq, when he can't even keep our own power grid from failing." Or something like that . . .

Dr. Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
Capt. Clarence Oveur: I can't tell.
Dr. Rumack: You can tell me, I'm a doctor.
Capt. Clarence Oveur: No, I mean, I'm just not sure.
Dr. Rumack: Well, can't you take a guess?
Capt. Clarence Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Dr. Rumack: You can't take a guess "for another two hours"?
Capt. Clarence Oveur: No, no, no, I mean we can't land for another two hours.
To: Joe Hadenuf
Nobody knows where the power failure originated.
There was no warning of overloading.
MSNBC "...something else went wrong and we don't yet know what it was...."
Pray for the frightened victims.
