BOMBAY, India - U.S. and Indian scientists said Wednesday they have discovered a new carnivorous dinosaur species in India after finding bones in the western part of the country.

The new dinosaur species was named Rajasaurus narmadensis, or "Regal reptile from the Narmada," after the Narmada River region where the bones were found.

The dinosaurs were between 25-30 feet long, had a horn above their skulls, were relatively heavy and walked on two legs, scientists said. They preyed on long-necked herbivorous dinosaurs on the Indian subcontinent during the Cretaceous Period at the end of the dinosaur age, 65 million years ago.

"It's fabulous to be able to see this dinosaur which lived as the age of dinosaurs came to a close," said Paul Sereno, a paleontologist at the University of Chicago. "It was a significant predator that was related to species on continental Africa, Madagascar and South America."

Working with Indian scientists, Sereno and paleontologist Jeff Wilson of the University of Michigan reconstructed the dinosaur skull in a project funded partly by the National Geographic (news - web sites) Society.

A model of the assembled skull was presented Wednesday by the American scientists to their counterparts from Punjab University in northern India and the Geological Survey of India during a Bombay news conference.

Scientists said they hope the discovery will help explain the extinction of the dinosaurs and the shifting of the continents — how India separated from Africa, Madagascar, Australia and Antarctica and collided with Asia.

The dinosaur bones were discovered during the past 18 years by Indian scientists Suresh Srivastava of the Geological Survey of India and Ashok Sahni, a paleontologist at Punjab University.

When the bones were examined, "we realized we had a partial skeleton of an undiscovered species," Sereno said.

The scientists said they believe the Rajasaurus roamed the Southern Hemisphere land masses of present-day Madagascar, Africa and South America.

"People don't realize dinosaurs are the only large-bodied animal that lived, evolved and died at a time when all continents were united," Sereno said.

The cause of the dinosaurs' extinction is still debated by scientists. The Rajasaurus discovery may provide crucial clues, Sereno said.

India has seen quite a few paleontological discoveries recently.

In 1997, villagers discovered about 300 fossilized dinosaur eggs in Pisdura, 440 miles northeast of Bombay, that Indian scientists said were laid by four-legged, long-necked vegetarian creatures.

Indian scientists said the dinosaur embryos in the eggs may have suffocated during volcanic eruptions.

And Science is arguing against Scripture. For 2000 years, they have tried to stamp out the message of Scripture. It remains undamaged and strong. I like my odds.

Sorry, the word is inerrant and can be taken literally (unless common sense says not to do so).

By the way, how are you coming on that list, as long as my arm, of Darwin's character flaws?

By the way, you can see there was a lynching setup for me. I did not attend.

Well, as I said, I borrowed my Mothers POS telescope, and it was indeed a POS. It couldn't pick up Mars at ALL.

My binoculars worked great though, but alas, I got no pictures.

It sure was beautiful though, the sky was so clear that we could see the Milky Way clearly, the little dipper, andromeda, etc. It was fun..

Nope, the person of whom you are speaking have set themselves up very nicely.

I know who this person is, and playing coy and other goofy stuff is not going to stop the mods from an IP check, and if my suspicions are confirmed. Buh, Bye ALS, AGAIN....

Science IGNORES scriptures, just as it should IGNORE religion in any of it's work.

Science is Science, religion is religion, they are 2 different and opposite things.

If science is somehow able to hurt your faith, I think that the problem is with your faith, NOT science.

Perhaps you need to work on your faith and ignore science for a while? Because at this point you are only going to hurt yourself.

Just so we'll be on the same page, so to speak, here are a few geocentric passages in scripture, King James version. The first two, Ecclesiastes and Joshua, were definitely used in Galileo's heresy trial. (Source: The Galileo Affair, by Maurice A. Finocchiaro, University of California Press, 1989.) I'm not certain of the other verses, but they speak for themselves:
Ecclesiastes:
1:5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. [Clear, unambiguous description of the sun's orbit around the earth.]

Joshua:
10:12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
10:14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

1st Chronicles:
16:30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

Psalms:
93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
96:10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be re-moved for ever.

Thus, there are many places in the Bible where a literal reading is contrary to the solar system. This conflict is at least as clear as any passages you can cite which conflict with evolution. Yet you seem to accept the solar system. Everyone does -- now, but they didn't in Galileo's day, and scripture hasn't changed at all. So what's going on here? That is the double standard of which I spoke.

Frankly Andrew I had decided I was going to avoid this particular thread due to it's obvious attack against Christians, but I kept getting "You have new comments" from Arica2000. I am very aware of what the little wolf pack is up to. They seem to con troll any threads that might disagree with their beliefs and therefor do some kind of little WCW tag team. It is childish and very obvious. I have been doing a lot of reading on a couple of threads in which certain posters seem to dominate. I am not sure what it is I should do but I figure at the very least, I will only post comments to people who do not attack me for my beliefs. It seems to me, a newcomer, that this "agreement" does not really effectivly work. It seems to me like it muzzles the creationist and gives the evolutionist free reign to insult, name call and taunt until the creationist no longer wants to take the time to post anything.
I wonder how many evolutionists on this thread are even out of college at this time. It seems to me that few are, just by reading the posts. Some are smart enough computer wise, to go to the talk origin site for ammo against a Christian, post articles and insult anyone who is not of the same mind as they are. However, I wonder if they are smart enough to view all the evidence out there and make a decision based on facts.
It occurs to me that the evolutionist will defend their beliefs more tenatiously than most people of other faiths/beliefs. In fact, they seem to go from thread to thread poking fun at any person who might be a creationist. I wonder why they try so hard.
Back to Arica2000. My calling her a crybaby is in direct response to her post to me which was unprovoked. She reminds me of a JW. Both are always knocking on my door, and won't go away. If she leaves me alone, she'll get no posts from me in return. If she keeps posting to me, I may have to do to her what I do to JW's, start preaching truth. I don't think she will like that much.
I have been holding back in posting much factual information here because I know they don't really want to hear it, they just want to argue.
We already know that the ACLU, NEA and other organizations are liberals and we also know what their agenda is. That they want to destroy God In America. We need black and white here instead of the many shades of grey. From reading here, I am forced to assume that there are liberals who are posting here on purpose. What surprises me, is that they are allowed to keep doing so.

concisetraveler is not a compliant poster, even by stretching of the definition in the manner AndrewC favors. I disagree with the hypothesis that he is ALS reincarnate; ALS, for example, was fairly careful about spelling. However, he has not signed the agreement, and the ad hominems coming from him certainly eliminate any protection the agreement gives him.

Good morning RA, how are you this morning?

I got home from a very tiring camping trip and slept the sleep of the dead last night.

All in all it was GREAT fun though, got to see mars very clearly, except of course only as a little ball in the sky, wasn't able to make out any particular features. I was rather disapointed.

If that person is not ALS, will you leave this forum? Because if that person is not ALS you are "hounding" them for a wrong reason and the consequences would be banning. I believe someone else has been labelled wrongly on this thread.

It is pretty clear that people who think they can insult a man by calling him a woman (i) are misogynist (how sad for the women, if any, in their lives that they think calling someone a woman is an insult!) (ii) have gender identity issues. Maybe by misassigning the gender of others, they can make go away those nagging doubts they themselves have about their masculinity.
