I'll probably be about the 100th person to post this, but if Davis resigns, the recall still takes place. His opportunity to resign to avoid a recall passed some time ago.

Nothing anywhere that I can find. I can't even find a reference to a news conference by following the original link to MSNBC. Hey Dog, you pullin' a fast one?

DAVIS has pushed the presser back until 6pm eastern!!!! Less see if we can push this thread to 1000 responses before anything actually happens! What's the record anyway?

Davis is notoriously late for all press events....he makes the little people wait to hear him....the press hate it! Clinton did the same thing. And I understand he is advising him.

Of course, that could include Davis resigning, then getting elected in the recall! That's why he went to court to have his name put on his own replacement list. DAVIS SUES TO BE ON RECALL BALLOT, even though the California Constitution specifically prohibits running for his own office:
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 2 VOTING, INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM, AND RECALL SEC. 15. (a) An election to determine whether to recall an officer and, if appropriate, to elect a successor shall be called by the Governor and held not less than 60 days nor more than 80 days from the date of certification of sufficient signatures. (b) A recall election may be conducted within 180 days from the date of certification of sufficient signatures in order that the election may be consolidated with the next regularly scheduled election occurring wholly or partially within the same jurisdiction in which the recall election is held, if the number of voters eligible to vote at that next regularly scheduled election equal at least 50 percent of all the voters eligible to vote at the recall election.
(c) If the majority vote on the question is to recall, the officer is removed and, if there is a candidate, the candidate who receives a plurality is the successor. The officer may not be a candidate, nor shall there be any candidacy for an office filled pursuant to subdivision (d) of Section 16 of Article VI.

If Davis steps down, and Bustamonte takes over, the recall is NIL and NO ARNOLD! Wrong! The election would go forward, with only the second half of the ballot. The only way Bustamante becomes governor is if he wins the most votes on October 7th.

Davis is announcing he will henceforth be known as 'Jody Davis', wear womens clothing and will begin sex change theraphy... And Darrell Issa was only trying to recall him because he was trying to impress President Reagan!!!

I think he's going to announce that California is the first homosexual state and is breaking away from the union... Howard Dean beat him to it when, as governor of Vermont, Dean signed into law, a bill allowing same-sex marriage rights. Dems are really and truely, "all about sex."

My usually unimpeacheable sources in Hollywood have just informed me that Davis is going to announce that he's been having an affair with Maria Shriver and that half of Arnold children with her are his!
