Texas_Dawg agrees with Kofi Anan and George Bush that American Trade Policy should subvert domestic prosperity for the greater benefit of the rest of the world. No, Willie, Texas_Dawg probably agrees that trade policies should not be established with the premise that our dumbest, stupidest, most incapable and incompetent workers (presumably including yourself) should not be propped up at the expense of the rest of us who work hard and don't whine and demand continued handouts at every possible moment. get a clue or buy a new mop - there are many stalls that need cleaning & appears you still have the prerequisite free time so you're still the right man for the job! ROFLMAO

Just out of curiosity, what do you do for a living?
To: Texas_Dawg
HA! We saw this on C-Span Friday night (the Mr and me). This guy was NOT a republican, he had to be a plant, and I don't even believe in the parties using plants. He was too well rehearsed in his lines "I've always been a Republican but..." it was so contrived and phony.

I work in finance. Institutional equity sales, to be specific.

I have no use for kneejerk anti-Bush rants. Hope you knock yourself out beating your head against the wall.

A-men, brutha. Willie just likes to throw out little paleo buzzwords and call people Communisses and what not... but he's one of the biggest fans of federal government intervention to protect his incompetency that I've ever seen. He makes the welfare pimps look like Milton Friedman.

I promote employment in America's private sector, not Dubya's Treasury bankrupting expansion of Medicare benefits. Guess what, Willie -- those Medicare prescription drug benefits are specifically intended to remove a bunch of retirees from the insurance plans of major U.S. corporations like General Motors. To make them more competitive with companies like Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen.
You can't have it both ways.
To: Alberta's Child
No they're not. They are specifically designed for the GOP to suck up to yet another constituency that will never vote for them anyway, another example of the GOP eating its own brain.
If there is one single retiree that removes himself from his corporate insurance plan, I will be shocked.

This is interesting -
"Right now I am very disillusioned with the Republicans' policies," said Michael Retzer, a Republican and a consultant to a supplier for Harley-Davidson. Mr. Retzer told Mr. Snow at a Harley plant near Milwaukee that he did not see how the tax cuts would stimulate the economy when so many consumers would spend the extra money on goods made overseas.
Perhaps Michael "Republican" Retzer missed this announcement?
Milwaukee, WI - (MCNW) Harley-Davidson, Inc. announced record revenue and earnings for its second quarter ended June 29, 2003. Revenue for the quarter was $1.22 billion compared with $1.00 billion in the year-ago quarter, a 21.8 percent increase. Second quarter diluted earnings per share (EPS) were 66 cents, a 40.4 percent increase compared with last years 47 cents.
"We are pleased with our strong results for 2003 as we head into the second half of the year," said Jeffrey L. Bleustein, chairman and chief executive officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. "Our US dealer network sold more motorcycles in this quarter than in any other quarter in our 100-year history. Retail sales grew more than 14 percent compared with last year and outpaced our wholesale shipments by over 11,000 units," added Bleustein.

In case you didn't know this -- despite all predictions to the contrary, Bush actually got more votes in Florida among senior citizens than Gore did.

Maybe not tomorrow, but with this Medicare coverage in place these corporations will have no problem scaling back on the quality of their insurance plans. Trust me on this one -- these retirees are eventually going to be removed from these insurance plans.

Make America more "competitive" through socialized medicine?
What a pile of neocon horse-pucky.
To: Willie Green
Make America more "competitive" through socialized medicine? If General Motors spends $1,000 per person per year on its prescription drug plan for retirees, and Uncle Sam comes along and takes them off the rolls for $800 apiece, you can bet that America becomes more "competitive."
One thing is for certain -- no company in America is going to be competitive if it is providing retirees with better benefits than it gives its current employees.

I sure can't wait until we get the GOP, the party of small government, back in power. I'm getting tired of all these democrat party social programs.

Are you serious? You think Uncle can do ANYTHING better and less expensively than the private sector?
