WASHINGTON - Country music troubadour Willie Nelson will strum guitar and sing for Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich at benefit concerts in Iowa, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Venues and supporting performers haven't been chosen, but the first concert will be Labor Day in Des Moines, Iowa, campaign spokesman Jeff Cohen announced Wednesday. Two other shows are tentatively scheduled for early September in Kucinich's hometown of Cleveland and in Madison, Wis.
The Iowa concert, honoring workers and farmers, is to follow Nelson's two regularly scheduled performances in the state Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.
Nelson is a founding performer and president of Farm Aid, the all-day concert that raises money for family farmers. This year's Farm Aid will be in Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 7, and the Cleveland show likely would be scheduled around that time.
Tickets are expected to cost slightly more than usual concert prices, which are about $30 to $40, Cohen said.
Kucinich, the Ohio congressman, plans to make an official announcement of his candidacy around Labor Day.

Willie -- great "Half-Nelson" album. The last great Nelson output.
I'm disappointed in him regarding Kucinich. I thought Willie had better perception.
Kucinich is destined to be primary season roadkill. You'd think Willie'd have the sense to hook up with someone who had a prayer of being there at the end.

Willie Nelson IS liberal. He's the opposite of Charlie Daniels who IS conservative. Charlie just wrote a great book that came out this month about his life and his views on America. Guy is funny as hell too.

Willie's got his head so far up his ass, its a wonder his hair is grey.
With all his past income tax problems, only brain damage can explain his support for the Tax and Spend Democrats.
As an artists that can't undersdtand how the Democrats support for the U.N. proves they are the greatest threat to free speach and National soveriegnty. He shows that these celebrities don't do any research into their decisions.
One good thing about Willie, if you call him out, the Old Man is likely to accept the challenge, anyone near by the Raging Idiot should do just this and knock some sence into his head.
Is Willie one of those inbred rednecks? His actions and thought patterns say he is.

Willie has a hole in his guitar. Kucinich has a hole in his head.

I added Willie to my "list" back when he was celebrating the Texas Demos illegal hold-out in Oklahoma earlier this year. You would think Willie would have some common sense, but no.

I thought Willie had better perception. Ya gotta remember, Willy's smoked alot of dope.

It hasn't been hard for me to give up supporting most of the liberal artists - especially those from Hollywood.
It's a bit harder for me to give up listening to Willie - but I'm getting there. Some of his recent TV specials have had the former Pres as a guest. And given natural aging added to his smoking...some of the vocal quality I used to like is gone....
