Lynch Receives Bronze Star Before Homecoming
Pfc. Jessica Lynch is returning home Tuesday, newly decorated for heroism in Iraq.
A member of Ft. Bliss' 507th Maintenance Company, Lynch was captured during the attack on a portion of the unit in Nasiriyah, Iraq on March 23rd. She was rescued from captivity on April 1st.
On Monday, Pfc. Lynch received the Bronze Star for heroism, Purple Heart for being wounded in combat, and P.O.W. What do you expect from a military that awarded more medals than there were combatants in Grenada?

Has anyone read the citation? Is there a citation that goes along with a Bronze Star like the Medal of Honor? Perhaps whoever made the decision to bestow a Bronze Star on her know something that the media doesn't know.

That story doesn't say what you said. It gives no discussion of if she was hit first and doesn't indicate that she was incapacitated and unable to fight back.

The "V" is what sunk Adm Mike Boorda. He was wearing the V on his Navy Commendation Medal and allegedly wasn't authorized it. After his suicide, it turned out that it was authorized after all.

No kidding. The doctor that initially found her and helped her said he found her in the nude in her bed and she just kept shaking and begging him not to hurt her.
Use just a bit of imagination to come up with some ideas as to what those animal followers of "the religion of peace" did to her.

ON Linda Vester's show today was a reporter from
Newsweek. I know they are not always (ha) reliable, but the woman said her co-reporter had talked to Lynch, and that her injuries were mostly as a result of beatings, and that she was not injured very much in the wreck.
If that is true, it seems to me she was tortured and her refusal to give up information would be grounds for a Bronze Star.
As I said, I don't know how reliable this information is, but it seems to me the DoD wouldn't have awarded the Bronze Star for simply being a prisoner. That is what the POW medal is for.

What an outrage! Bronze Star for being cute, because she damn sure didn't do anything.

The media took this young lady and molded her into what we see and hear today. She was an individual like any of our troops serving in Iraq....she just happened to be wounded and female and rescued by her comrades. I don't deny her whatever she was presented with as I'm sure the military does not just hand these citations out, however, I do think that the boys who went in there and got her deserve equal billing.........

c. Awards may be made to recognize single acts of merit or meritorious service. The required achievement or service while of lesser degree than that required for the award of the Legion of Merit must nevertheless have been meritorious and accomplished with distinction.
Laying all teeth chipping aside I do like and do agree with your posting of the cause for an award for her probable exibition of stalwartness and steeled passive resistance toward her captors during her captivity with her probable inner fear she might not survive uppermost in her mind.
If this is anywhere near what she was experiencing I say "HIP HIP HOORAY" Jessica with a heartfelt, welcome home!

Not that you'd ever get one. That story doesn't say what you said either. Two links, no proof. Not a good record.
