Good news travels slow. This is about the same story that I keep hearing over and over from troops returning home and from my own son. The whiners are always reported by the media while those who don't are just ignored.
To: ReaganRevolution
he has been shot at repeatedly but he says it's part of the mission and what he signed up for and he's taking them out one by one. God Bless our soldiers!! Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Please tell your co-worker that many folks back home are finding the 'news' and passing it on and we are so proud of the awesome work our troops are doing.

Wow what a read!! Thanks so much.

The morale of the troops is A-1, except for the normal bitching and griping.
WHAT! Soldiers complaining, I'm shocked. That sort of thing never happened when I was in. After work it was back to the barracks to dream about mom, baseball, and the girl we left behind.
And I have a really nice bridge I can let you have real cheap.
This is why I come here. You'd never in a million years see or read anything like this in the media. Thatr wouldn't be "balanced".

We can be the press, too, LG. Bloggers from Iraq are getting the news out, as well as the DoD, CENTCOM websights, military news links
and letters home from the troops.
FR is a Godsend. Bypass the press, doing just what you did - sharing the letter with us. We'll pass it on...and on!

I'm in Baghdad now, since SpOpComm 5 relocated here from Qatar. It looks, sounds and smells about the same but at least you can get Maker's Mark at the local OC. Color me skeptical, but it sure sounds nice.

Great post, but if you receive future correspondence please blank out the placenames. I hate to be a heavy hand, but we are still at war and the "Loose Lips" caveat still applies.
Remember, the enemy has the internet too.

More Americans need to see and hear things like this letter. Forwarding this one to my local TV news and newspaper staffs as well.
I actually told a local news assistant last week, "Just following the BOSS's orders doesn't cut it for the press during wartime, either, son."
My mother frowned. Sigh.
