There's a grain of truth in that- many of the older & poorer black folks I grew up with on the Island have been forced to leave, due to taxes. Naturally, the county couldn't care less, as they are replaced with more affluent people who are happy to pay. It's a damned shame, though.
Well those porkchop samwichs are tasty, but they got so much grease in them that they are like taking Ex Lax to me.
You'll notice I did not mention eating there...
No we won't. But, I have the distinct gut feeling that these left coast lefties have no clue what mother nature has in store for them.
Oppresive heat and humidity, deer flies, sand fleas, huge mosquitos. Not to mention June is prime cotton mouth and crocodile season. And, if they dare to do their kayaking at night, June is also the month the bullsharks come in close to shore to feed on baitfish. Heh heh heh.
Did I mention the jellyfish?
Sounds good and some will see it as an act of God...even better. :^)
Wouldn't that be funny...."Look Sunshine, there's a momma hog with piglets. Let's go get some pictures...."
Bwahahaha...
But think of the fun if we feed the pockchop samwichs to those unknowing protesters.
If I remember correctly, it is the second largest in the country.
While I can't recall off the top of my head how big FLETC ( flet-cee or flea-tech, depending on who you talk to ) is, it occupies the old Glynco NAS, and is very big.
Then you have to take into account how many "talented amateurs" there are in this area- I wasn't kidding when I estimated that 80-90% of the civilians are armed, and they range from ex-military and police to marsh-hen hunters.
Then there are people like my old friend Jim Wilson, who is a Title II Manufacturer- machine guns, suppressors, sniper rifles- you name it...
This is not an anarchist-friendly area.
Did I mention the 'gators, cottonmouths, coral snakes, and 200lb. loggerhead turtles who live in the marshes surrounding the islands and mainland?
I suspect we will see more misinformation, stereotypes, and bad replays of "Deliverance" regarding the Golden Isles than we have seen in quite a long time. Reporters and writers and journalists carry as many biases as any group of people I have ever seen, and they will all be on display as this thing plays out...
I'll make you all a deal- if anything here comes to my attention, I'll report here on Free Republic.
And I won't make any pretext of being "objective"-- but I'll tell you what I learn, as honestly as I can.
By the way, the Brunswick airplane is basically a old Naval Airport, it will be able to handle most of the major jumbo-jets. The rest, the smaller jets can land on the airport on St. Simon's Island.
This is not an anarchist-friendly area.
It depends on the type of anarchist, if you're talking about those anti-capitalist anarchist, no they will not be welcome.
If you are talking about anti-government anarchists, I am sure there are already a 'few' in Brunswick.
Hi, VC... I nearly missed your reply, I'm still muzzy headed from my old dog-girl getting me up a while ago to go on the great Rat Hunt in the yard- living a block away from the Port of Brunswick means we find varmints in the yard, or trying to get in the house. Yes, we live in a city, but nature is never far away...
I used to dive into the tentacles of Portugese Man 'O Wars when I was a kid swimming in Saint Simons Sound. We didn't know, back then, that meat tenderizer neutralized the poison, so we just suffered through it... one time I dove into a school of them with my eyes open... talk about a world of hurt!
There's that phrase again.
I gotcha- I married one of those- she used to "hoot with the owls," but age & surgery finally restored a more normal schedule. I'm in the habit of waking myself at 4- a holdover from running the wrecker service and that older paramilitary training, but when my Mother started "entering the death process" ( as the nursing home put it ) a few months ago, my dog started getting me up at 3, every morning- she didn't need to really go out, just seemed to want to have an adult human up and on duty.
So here I am- standing by, a little beat up, scarred, and bowed by age, but ready to do whatever needs doing.
Anti-globalists do not necessarily equate to anarchists.
Who of you all supported the bill to get us out of the UN? Better think about what the G-8 is up to.
Activist seeks G-8 protest permit
A longtime Florida activist who ran as a fringe candidate for governor of his home state last year, on Monday became the first person to seek a permit to protest at next summer's G-8 summit in Georgia.
Bob Kunst, president of the Oral Majority, said he wants to bring protestors to call for an investigation of Bush's razor-thin 2000 presidential election in Florida, as well as the case Bush made for war in Iraq.
