Howdy, Paul- I see I'm not the only one up at the Crack of Dawn... you are right on all counts. This is basically a very conservative area- it used to be around 80% Democrat, until the 1980's, then went over to the other side-- but it's definitely in the "don't screw with me" category of Americana.
