Rep. Nadler to undergo second surgery for weight loss

WASHINGTON (AP) -- New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler will have a second round of stomach-reduction surgery to speed up his weight loss. Nadler, a Manhattan Democrat, underwent the first procedure almost a year ago, and he has since shed about 75 pounds.
"I certainly am doing a lot more walking and so forth,'' said Nadler, who at 5'4'' once weighed 338 pounds. "I didn't take the subway before because I didn't want to walk the stairs -- now I take the subway all the time.''
Nadler's surgery, to be performed in New York, will complete the second part of a two-phase procedure. The first operation removed part of his stomach, a procedure aimed at making a patient feel full after eating a small amount.
The second surgery involves bypassing a section of the small intestine, making it harder for the body to absorb nutrients and calories from food.
Though the stomach reduction and the intestinal bypass can be done in the same operation, Nadler said he chose to have the procedures done separately in order to reduce the risk of complications.
"You don't do this unless you've tried every other way,'' he said.

The surgery he is doing is very risky and only a few people can do it. There is a big risk of infection.
If it doesn't work, than he can go for lipo suction.
Being in the position he is in; he can easily get the insurance companies to pay.
He is probably doing this because he can hardly stand up and vote for the fraudulent fat bill looking the way he does.

Nadler is a unrepentant socialist whose every political idea is wrong, who is intellectually corrupt and dishonest. But, I hope this goes well, and he can lose the weight. I have a cousin who got a second chance at life thru this surgery. She went from a being 5'7 weighing 340 lbs to 135 lbs. Night and freaking day, not only in body, but most importantly mind.

5'4"??? I had no idea. Wow, 378 lb. distributed over 5'4"! That's mind-boggling. Funny thing is that he used to be 6'2", but gravity was his culprit.

He is truly pathetic if he has only lost 75 pounds in one year with the stomach surgery. Most obese people lose that in half the time. I have a friend who was about the same weight, but 5-6 inches taller....he is doing cardio twice a day, eating right & working out....he has lost 40 pounds in 2 months.

Would you want to be the doctor who performed the surgery?

Just what we need -- Jerry the MOAB taking up half the seats in any given subway car. This could be worse than the men who feel the need to sit across 3+ seats, spreading their legs so wide they look like they're Mary Lou Retton doing a big split. I suppose we're supposed to be impressed by what they seem to imply that they have, but we ladies are not.
Yeah, I'm cranky today.

I don't wish him ill ... but all the same, I chafe at reading this because I assume he is getting $$,$$$ in surgery at taxpayer expense, courtesy of a posh congressional health plan.
