Ann Coulter Just Brought Down the House With More Hillary Comments on Barbara Walters 'The View'
ABC News ^ | June 25, 2003 | Barbara Walters-Exec Producer

Posted on 06/25/2003 8:35:42 AM PDT by ewing

The panel of gals was discussing the hot topics/issue of the day regarding the goverment funded study on womens sexuality with Ann Coulter as the co-host.

Ann was arguing that the study was bogus and was asked by the panel (thinking they were backing Conservative Coulter into a corner) if she had ever seen two women 'getting it on.'

Ann took a deep breath, thought about the question and then said 'Yes, the Hillary [VRWC] interview wth Katie Couric. '

The audience was stopping the show they were laughing so hard, even the liberal hosts were smiling.

Although Coutler's answer was perfect, what kind of television host asks a question like that?

Take your pick! The airwaves are full of them!

I bought a copy yesterday at the SLC airport. Probably overpaid for it. I've read several chapters. Ann is one angry blond.

[Just turned it on as guest is announced.]

Interesting guest: Peter Boyle (?), since he was involved in the McCarthy stuff---which is---the topic of Ann's book.

He said McCarthy was crazy. [This is not-so-subtly aimed at Ann.]

Joy Behr has her back to Ann. [Not-so-subtle snub.]

Ann is politely, but obviously, being snubbed by the ladies and Boyle.

Too bad that interview was w/ Matt Lauer.

Kouric interviewed Hillary. Here’s some excerpts (insert your own moaning noises…)

Couric: “Because there’s so many people out there who say, ‘They’re just political animals. They do what’s expedient. They don’t love each other. They’re just together because it’s politically advantageous. It’s a sham.’”
Clinton: “Right, right.”
Couric: “You’ve heard all that…”
Clinton: “Right.”
Couric: “…and when you hear people passing those kinds of judgments on your marriage, does it gall you? Does it amuse you? What do you think?”
Clinton: “You know, I really don’t pay attention to it because I don’t think anyone knows what happens in a marriage between two people. Nobody could have predicted that he would have ended up being President of the United States. You know, I loved him for who he was, the kind of person that he is. And we’ve had a great, great time together. You know, it is something that I just value in my own life that I have to do what I think is right.”
Couric: “You write that the role of First Lady has been perceived as, quote, ‘Largely symbolic. She’s expected to represent an ideal and largely mythical concept of American womanhood.’ Clearly, you felt uncomfortable with the traditional role, or some aspects of the traditional role alone, of First Lady. But clearly, some people didn’t cotton to the notion of the co-presidency.”
Clinton: “And they shouldn’t have. I mean, that was never anything that was contemplated. It, you know, when I — when I arrived there as a member of my generation of women who had worked and who’d had responsibilities outside the home, as well as inside the home, it seemed the most natural of thing for me to actually continue working, not for pay, obviously, but as a full-time volunteer. And you know, I found that tradition is very hard to change.”

Too bad that interview was w/ Matt Lauer.

In her first television interview, Hillary Clinton spoke with Couric in a one-hour primetime special.

Ah, good question. I immediately assumed she meant the interview in 98, and not the one just recentlyfor the book.

I'm getting Ann's book today. I never watch garbage like The View (just my opinion), but would have watched had I known Ann was going to be on.

I've only been around here for a fairly short time.what does VRWC mean?

Speaking of Star "I am a lawyer" Jones, the MSNBC gossip columnist notes that some thought Jones was going to rip on Ann for the remark about Hillary outweighing her 3-to-1 (or, at least, her book outweighing Ann's):

Ann Coulter has added fat to the fire in her long-running assault on Hillary Clinton by making fun of the senator and former first lady’s weight on national television. THE RIGHT-WING PUNDIT was on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday, discussing her new book “Treason” — which argues, among other things, that commie witch-hunting Sen. Joe McCarthy was right.

“You’re going to be on the New York Times best-seller list, slugging it out against Hillary Clinton,” Sawyer commented, according to the GMA official transcript.

“I hope so,” replied Coulter.

“Who is going to win?”

“I think she has a three-to-one pound advantage over me,” said Coulter, “but we’ll see.”

“Three to one pound?” asked the normally unflappable Sawyer. “Did you say what I think you said?”

Coulter’s comments outraged some viewers. “You may disagree with another person’s politics but her comment was cheap and way below the belt,” noted one viewer at a gossip site where the exchange was being discussed at length.

Another irate viewer hoped that Coulter tries to make the same sort of joke when she’s on “The View” today. Says one, “Let’s see what Star Jones will do to her.” link

Ms. Coulter is becoming quite the celebrity! Everyone that can, please catch Hannity & Colmes tonight, Ann is front & center!
