Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, the driving force behind the effort to recall Gov. Gray Davis, was prosecuted with his brother in San Jose in 1980 for allegedly faking the theft of Issa's Mercedes Benz sedan and selling it to a car dealer for $16,000, according to court records.

They will move on to McLintock next.

McClintock has a clean record, and he's really ethical in his campaign fundraising. I don't think the democrats can pin anything on him, although they'll try to vilify him for his conservative ideas like trying to repeal the car tax.

You underestimate the democrats. Even now, they are going over his tax returns, checking out all of his relatives for everything from divorces and pregnancies to traffic tickets, checking everyone he ever did business with, and probably are going through his hospital records.

They will find something on which to manufature an attack, even though he is pure as the driven snow.

This is where I get upset.

Normal police procedure is to arrest anyone believed to be involved in a crime. First you arrest them - then you interview them - then you are usually able to sort out who the real guilty person is. If by any chance there is an arrest record of Issa, it still doesn't mean he was involved.

This is exactly the same thing they did to Bush.

Though I'm no big fan of Issa (the Palestine thing), he's still to be commended for taking a lead in the recall, and this is more of the leftist Davis/media machine politics of personal destruction to try to stop the inevitable. Issa needs to persist and step up his efforts (but he should also similarly pledge not to run for Governor).

Go, Tom McClintock, GO !

No, I don't believe he has declared, yet. He seems to be taking a wait and see approach.
