The United States government has violated the U.S. Constitution's prohibition against promoting a "state" religion and the Bush Administration, which has been touted as the "most Christian" presidency in the history of the United States, is smugly thumbing is nose at the religious right--but they are doing it piously so their favoritism of anything Muslim does not appear too blatant. And, of course, Ted Olson the Solicitor General of the United States will not call Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell to task. Nor, for that matter, will Attorney General John Ashcroft whom the Democrats called "too Christian" to serve as Attorney General of the United States during his confirmation hearing.
Last year I noted in an article on my website, www.jonchristianryter.com, that warned the American people that an Islamic religious curriculum was being surreptitiously added to the classrooms of America's public schools under the guise of providing cultural information about Islam. Shockingly--since Christians cannot even carry a bible to school with them, students are being forced to read from the Koran and recite Islamic scriptures. At the same time, the Muslim organization that initiated the program, the Council on Islamic Education--which was supplying copies of the Koran to California's public schools, was somehow able to secure office space at the Carden Hall Elementary School in Fountain Valley, California. (Too read this entire article, go to: http://www.jonchristianryter.com/020119.html).
It seemed strange, first, that the American Civil Rights Union--that declares it is adamantly opposed to religious education of any type in America's classrooms, was not in the least bit upset that the Council on Islamic Education was not only distributing their "holy writ" in the public schools, but that the State of California provided them with office space within one of the State's public school buildings. After all, the ACLU goes ballistic if a Christian teen wears a T-shirt to school emblazoned with the statement: JESUS SAVES. And, of course, the ACLU would have a stroke if the Lynchburg, Virginia public school system provided Jerry Falwell with office space at one of the local schools so that he could distribute copies of the Christian bible--solely for cultural purposes--to the students in Virginian schools.
And, of course, it also seems strange that the federal government didn't see anything wrong with State-sponsored, school-mandated teaching of the Islamic lifestype that included girls wearing burqus and boys dressed like Islamic terrorists. But now that we see the United States Department of State has its own "official" website promoting Islamic lifestyles (http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/muslimlife) it is becoming increasingly clear that Christianity--the religion of this nation's birth--is now a dead religion as far as the government is concerned...and the prohibition against creating a state-sponsored religion applies only to Christianity (and perhaps to Judaism as well).
I find it interesting that as America's youth attempting to manage the unstable peace in Iraq, they are been ambushed and murdered. Since Bush declared the Iraqi War to be "over," 40 American soldiers were murdered by Islamic terrorists as Secretary of State Colin Powell touts the Muslim lifestyle in the United States.
I think the American people need to flood the switchboards at the White House, and flood the White House fax machines...and send telegrams demanding that either the Muslim lifestyle goes or Secretary of State Colin Powell goes.
Well, once again, you have my two cents worth on this matter.
That's laughable. You think conservatives, especially social conservatives, only have ONE thing to not like about Bush? LOL. Good grief.

No religion which promotes hate and terror could ever be considered "valid." Why CJ is attempting to validate a religion of hate and terror defies reason unless he is a muslim him/herself?
Considering that a fourth of the world's population adheres to the religion which is being honored (not promoted) on the State Department's website, and considering the fact that we, a predominantly-Christian country, were recently at war with a couple of predominantly-Muslim country, and considering that Osama bin Laden tried to turn our war against his terror into a war of Christendom upon Islam, and conversely, a war of Muslims against Christians, and considering that there are many American leftist-paleos who would gladly assist bin Laden in turning the war against terrorism into a war against a religion or a class or a civilization, hence the opposition to the informative webpage seems rash, or petty, or ill-informed, or misguided at best.
Me? Just a priest in the Republikali temple. You are free to join. By all means consider me a Muslim in good standing if you wish to. A pious Jew would qualify as a good Muslim, too, and of course vice versa. |
"Islam is the fastest growing religion in this country, and there are many converts. Our mosque in Birmingham was about 80 percent blond, blue-eyed Americans. I never saw anything like it."
God help us...
Touche' again!
Lesse', I read about twenty articles posted today castigating Bush's current Middle East doctrine, a lot by any standard.
Guess we'll see if it all starts impacting the Administration's public stance in the next few days.
Good one! :-D

The only serious mature intelligent person on the last presidential election's political scene was Alan Keyes. While I don't identify with his Catholocism, he was and continues to be a serious student of constitutional history and constitutional processes. He shows evidence of giving well-thought-out answers to questions. The man thinks. He is a man of diverse serious interests inncluding opera and classical guitar. He has integrity. He shows energy and curiosity rather than laziness. He is a self-made man rather than being coasting on family contacts and reputation. He is well-educated with a doctorate from a school that is adamently against his views. He approaches the quality of mind of a Madison, Franklin, or Jefferson.
Whether the nation is prepared to accept that quality of mind is a separate problem. If not, we will suffer accordingly, as we have done.
As far as the rest of the candidates, they belonged in a movie or a TV sitcom. For people raised on movies and sitcomes, that is subjectively adequate. It is not adaquate to remedy the problems in this country.
Bull. The last two years has put Islam under the microscope. Anybody can take the time to research the religion for themselves, instead of blindly calling those people "bigots" who have contended with Islam in the Arena of the War of Ideas and found it wanting.
Extremely so.
The only reason why we haven't had bombings on American streets by Islamic killers is because the Feds came down on them like a ton of bricks.
