The United States government has violated the U.S. Constitution's prohibition against promoting a "state" religion and the Bush Administration, which has been touted as the "most Christian" presidency in the history of the United States, is smugly thumbing is nose at the religious right--but they are doing it piously so their favoritism of anything Muslim does not appear too blatant. And, of course, Ted Olson the Solicitor General of the United States will not call Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell to task. Nor, for that matter, will Attorney General John Ashcroft whom the Democrats called "too Christian" to serve as Attorney General of the United States during his confirmation hearing.
Last year I noted in an article on my website, www.jonchristianryter.com, that warned the American people that an Islamic religious curriculum was being surreptitiously added to the classrooms of America's public schools under the guise of providing cultural information about Islam. Shockingly--since Christians cannot even carry a bible to school with them, students are being forced to read from the Koran and recite Islamic scriptures. At the same time, the Muslim organization that initiated the program, the Council on Islamic Education--which was supplying copies of the Koran to California's public schools, was somehow able to secure office space at the Carden Hall Elementary School in Fountain Valley, California. (Too read this entire article, go to: http://www.jonchristianryter.com/020119.html).
It seemed strange, first, that the American Civil Rights Union--that declares it is adamantly opposed to religious education of any type in America's classrooms, was not in the least bit upset that the Council on Islamic Education was not only distributing their "holy writ" in the public schools, but that the State of California provided them with office space within one of the State's public school buildings. After all, the ACLU goes ballistic if a Christian teen wears a T-shirt to school emblazoned with the statement: JESUS SAVES. And, of course, the ACLU would have a stroke if the Lynchburg, Virginia public school system provided Jerry Falwell with office space at one of the local schools so that he could distribute copies of the Christian bible--solely for cultural purposes--to the students in Virginian schools.
And, of course, it also seems strange that the federal government didn't see anything wrong with State-sponsored, school-mandated teaching of the Islamic lifestype that included girls wearing burqus and boys dressed like Islamic terrorists. But now that we see the United States Department of State has its own "official" website promoting Islamic lifestyles (http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/muslimlife) it is becoming increasingly clear that Christianity--the religion of this nation's birth--is now a dead religion as far as the government is concerned...and the prohibition against creating a state-sponsored religion applies only to Christianity (and perhaps to Judaism as well).
I find it interesting that as America's youth attempting to manage the unstable peace in Iraq, they are been ambushed and murdered. Since Bush declared the Iraqi War to be "over," 40 American soldiers were murdered by Islamic terrorists as Secretary of State Colin Powell touts the Muslim lifestyle in the United States.
I think the American people need to flood the switchboards at the White House, and flood the White House fax machines...and send telegrams demanding that either the Muslim lifestyle goes or Secretary of State Colin Powell goes.
Well, once again, you have my two cents worth on this matter.
Agreed. Rather, mainstream Christianity in America needs to get off there apathetic, spoiled fannies and start to engage in a more aggressive confrontation in the intellectual and cultural arenas, against the totalitarian, oppressive ideas of this spreading cult.

I assume you are aware Bush called Islam a religion of prace, gave Ramaden dinners, and prayed at mosques. It isn't powell, deluded one. It's Bush. Wake up, even if you like the guy.
How fortunate for ideologues that all they have to complain about are some State Dept. webpages honoring a valid religion's adherent's 1st Amendment right to the free exercise of their religion in America.
Perhaps Mr. Aqualung thinks everyone else is 'nuts,' too, and only he should rightly be the king.
Isn't it funny how they manage to find every little Ten Commandments display in B.F.E., but are completely silent when it is Islam that is promoted in the public square?
FYI, that's because the Holy See is a sovereign nation. Why shouldn't we have an ambassador to a sovereign nation? We have one to other countries that have a state religion, like the U.K.
--------------------
It's not a valid religion, it's organized criminal insanity. If one wishs to be tolerant of it, so be it. To glamorize it as being anything other than what it is, however, is stupid and subversive.
