Welcome to the Victory '04 Countdown Thread to reelect President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney on November 2, 2004 for FOUR MORE YEARS!
In these initial stages of the 2004 campaign, we have a great opportunity to lay the groundwork for victory and communicate President Bush's compassionate conservative message across America. This Victory '04 Countdown Thread will be providing information for Freepers and other groups at the Grassroots to organize and take action in the days ahead, helping President Bush as he works to grow our economy and keep America strong.
We are including a daily section of links (with excerpts) to articles/editorials on the President for you to use in spreading the positive message of this Administration. We also would like you to post on the daily threads what actions you or someone you know have taken to support Victory '04. We cannot afford to get complacent and believe poll numbers! Each of us has to work like we are down in the polls until the last polling place closes on election night to achieve VICTORY '04!!!!
Sign up to Meetup for Bush 2004 attend the monthly Bush Meetup in your city on June 10th! So far, 423 people are signed up to Meetup for Bush, compared to 32,107 for Dean, 1,308 for Kerry, and 816 for Edwards. Let's blow them out of the water with this thread!
NEW! The unofficial Bush-Cheney 2004 Weblog!
http://bushcheney2004.blogspot.com
Get a steady stream of campaign news and activism alerts from Bush grassroots activists through the web's most exciting new medium. Here's what ABC News' The Note had to say:
"it's the Bush-Cheney re-elect's unofficial, unofficial blog: bushcheney2004.blogspot.com; which announced its first National Bush Meetup Day. (That's June 10).
"Anyone who knows anything about the Net is aware of the profound influence of conservative sites like National Review Online. A heap of well- deserved attention has been lathered on Governor Howard Dean's web efforts, but we wouldn't underestimate the ability of young conservatives to match for Bush what young liberals have done for Dean."
From Open Secrets of the Hill --
Obscure statute could dock campaigning members(excerpt)
U.S. Code Title 2 section 39 holds that every no-show lawmaker has to forfeit his salary for each day he has been absent from the Senate or House. The only legal excuse for not showing up is the sickness of a member or some member of his family.
As The Hill recently reported, Gephardt has missed 85 percent of this years House votes. But the former minority leader, one of six members of Congress running for president, has plenty of company.
Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has missed 34 percent of this years Senate votes, not counting two votes he missed while recovering from prostate surgery. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) has missed 22 percent of the votes. Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.)has missed 12 percent. Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) has missed 6 percent, excluding 16 votes he missed after heart surgery. (end excerpt -- my bold)

President Delivers Remarks to Troops
Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar 10:25 A.M. (L)
THE PRESIDENT: Thanks for coming out to say hello. (Applause.) Thanks for your introduction, Tommy. I appreciate this warm welcome. I have a question for you: Can you hear me now? (Applause.)
I've been on the road for a while, and I hope you didn't mind us stopping by. (Applause.) We've seen a lot of fine sights, but there's no finer sight than to see the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States of America. (Applause.)
I am happy to see you, and so are the long-suffering people of Iraq. America sent you on a mission to remove a grave threat and to liberate an oppressed people, and that mission has been accomplished. (Applause.) Each one of you is a credit to the uniform you wear, and I bring a message from home: your families are proud of you, and so is America. (Applause.) Click here for full transcript

Did you reset your Y2K clock to the 2004 election? :-)
Here's a story
'Bout a man named Sharpton
Who was trying to win an election on his own
All the rest had some backers
And held an office
Except for Mosely-Braun
Here's a story
'Bout a lib named Clinton
Who was married to a lyin' cheatin' slime
But despite all sorts of hype
and DNC pleading
She wouldn't run this time
Well the dems were really getting desperate
Because they knew that Bush was gonna make them eat their lunch
They had to find a group that would play dirty
That's the way they chose the Shady Bunch
The Shady Bunch
