They still have their lives and homes and money. Why are they not in jail? I am not saying Martha is without blame I am just questioning justice.

No, you're arguing 'selective prosecution.' And the answer almost always is "how dumb is the crook?" Well, not-so-sweet Martha and her pretty-boy "walker" and 'stockbroker-to-the-elderly-women' are pretty doggone dumb. But, also crooked as a mountain road.

To me the most damning thing she did, as alleged in the indictment, is those press releases to prop up MSLO stcok and defraud buyers and sellers of that stock by perpetuating the lies regarding IMCL.

But then, as all us serfs should know by now, she's entitled.

From CEO to soup kitchen... These are the lifestyles of the rich and famous... In this episode, watch as she creates a lavish cabbage soup with all the trimmings Martha is so well known for. Her serving for over 200 is a crowd pleaser you're sure not to miss!

Later in the programme:
* Creating inspirational homemade cards for prison guards to show how much you care.
* The fine art of getting what you want in prison!
* Martha's spruce up ideas for bed attire and creative linen fashions behind bars.

But luckily the government is ready to meddle on your behalf! And that's a good thing, right? Because America was a really crappy place back when the market was free and people cherished liberty. It was all so unfair back then, the way some people got stuff that other people didn't have. Good thing we're all so enlightened now.

No, we were a largely Christian nation then and called a thief a thief. These bums are defrauding those who gave them the keys to the corporate washroom because, at heart, they are low-grade thieves. This is not about divergence of wealth, it is about defrauding the bosses. Martha probably takes pencils home from the office too. She was smart enough to get away with that, just not smart enough to carry off this fraud with her pretty boy without getting caught.

Read the indictment. The brazen stupidity of their lies boggles the mind. There should be a tenth count: stupidity for 5 to 10.

She is no uninformed bimbo who made it sleeping to the top.

No, that's exactly what she was. Look at the "stockbroker." Merrill Lynch's big producer is a male escort for old women (and Martha). He wouldn't know a P/E ratio if it ran over him.

Read the indictment. Martha is definitely not among the brighter bulbs in the box. ("I think I'll perfect my conspiracy by using my cellphone this morning." Even Tony Soprano leaves home and goes to a pay phone. Geeesh, she's stupid. Actually, she was (at one time) a good looking woman who masqueraded as someone who knew how to make a home beautiful. I lost faith in Martha when she divorced her husband.)

The only thing the government should be involved in with regards to the marketplace is prosecuting FRAUD. That's it. Pursuing the act of "insider trading" is what's antithetical to freedom. It's based on a socialist impulse to create an egalitarian distribution of property. It is born of envy, jealousy and a dislike of capitalism.

If she willfully lied or obstructed an investigation, I'd say that could be a problem as well.

All I know about Martha Stewart is that for several years I tried to find a drawer tray to help me organize my office desk. I bought trays from Office Depot/Office Max and catalogue suppliers, but I never found the tray I was looking for. . . cheap, sturdy, and with right-sized compartments.

Then one day I was strolling around K-mart automobile department, and just across from it, I saw an aisle of Martha Stewart products that included a MS “utility tray.” That MS tray caught my eye, I bought it, and voilà! It fit perfectly in my desk drawer and all my pens, pencils, drawing tools, and other office supplies fit perfectly also.

All of a sudden, everyone at my office wanted to have MS trays, and I bought a whole bunch of them for everyone at the office. The MS trays were not only less expensive than the inferior trays I had bought before from office supply stores, they were also strong and convenient.

In my book, anyone who helps me organize my office and my garage has won enough good will to last for several years. I wish Martha Stewart had cooperated fully with this investigation and avoided all these legal troubles. At this point, I hope she can get the best deal possible out of this criminal indictment.

Martha has set up a website lying to the American public.

Let's show her our uh....support....by e-mailing her:

martha@marthatalks.com

Let's make sure to point out that her attorneys said the other day this is all about the fact that Enron folks are connected to Bush somehow so they are getting off. Nevermind that Miss Martha is political herself......

Thing is, she was being pursued for something ("insider trading") that is not wrong, and that is based in terrible law

BS. Insider trading is a corruption of the capital markets. It shouldn't be tolerated.

If I have more of it than you do, than I am lucky, plucky, hard-working, or many other things. What I'm not is bad or immoral. And in a society that's truly free, I am not breaking any laws.

Wrong, your comments are ridiculous. The point is that, when you take information from insiders, you aren't "lucky, plucky, hard-working, or many other things." You're trading on an insider relationship that nobody else has; you're leeching off of information that you're not entitled to possess. The markets work (most of the time) because the playing field is more or less even for most investors. There's nothing stopping you from doing independent research (ie. reading the papers, investigating the company and its officers thoroughly) -- but suggesting that you're entitled to trade on information which nobody else can get is simply idiotic.

Are you saying that the Enron folks have ties to the Republicans who are in charge and thus are getting off, while Martha has ties to the democrats who are not in charge and thus is not getting off?

Are you saying that as Martha was not a fiduciary in this matter, she could not have been guilty of insider trading?

No. That is what Martha's lawyers claimed the other day.

(btw, I don't agree with her lawyers....I pointed their political motivation claim out so we can e-mail Martha to mock her about it since she is quite the hypocrite on politics.....)

I am not saying Martha is "entitled" ....just get the other bastards !!!
I agree on some points but I will have to admit that if my broker told me that he had good info on a stock and I should either buy or sell...I might after getting a few details. Also if a "friend" called and told me the same, I would ask why and maybe or maybe not follow the advice....that is my choice.
I don't know what Martha really did...other then be there and an easy target. I personally think that the government does not have the "balls" to go for the "big boys" and thought that Martha might be easy...My prediction is that the will rue the day and I hope that is true !!!
Let me add that the "boys" are the friends of both the Dems and Reps and they are very selective. Martha did not RUIN thousands of lives and basically our market. Get Martha if you must but I want to see some big guys go down...soon !!!
2004 is not far and I am to the vote all of the bastards out point...no matter the party. We won a war that we are still fighting? Gas prices are up and rising...as are unemployment and prices at the grocery !!! The market is in the toilet and the only way that a car or a house can be sold soon is if there is no interest, they will pay taxes and insurance and drive free for a year. Retail not just SUCKS...but totally SUCKS and someone had better turn it around soon or the elections will tell the tale. And a band-aid will not stop the hemorrage and the general pubilic knows that, the problem is that the "goverment" is not that aware.
