REPUBLICANS PRESENT BILL TO GET U.S. OUT OF THE UN!
House of Representatives ^
Posted on 06/03/2003 5:39:36 PM PDT by sdk7x7
WorldNetDaily and CNSNews.com are currently running stories on a Congressman (http://www.cnsnews.com/Nation/Archive/200306/NAT20030602a.html) who is the only member of the House to fly the UN flag outside his office.
But get this... A NUMBER OF REPUBLICANS HAVE INTRODUCED LEGISTLATION, WITH 12 COSPONSORS, TO GET THE US OUT OF THE UNITED NATIONS!
Click the link to see the actual bill name, cosponsors, and any additional info.

Was that post neccesary? Make a webpage and provide a link, geez...

What we should do is simply demand a more proportional financial representation and withhold anything beyond, and then veto everything. Agreed, as long as we can keep a Carter-like President out of the White House.

"Not only will the US not withdraw from the UN, I predict that the US will give even more money to the UN next year." Hehehe...
I will attach to your prediction, my own cynical prediction: A gay Frenchman will secede UN Pimp, Kofi Annon.
Will it be a Muslim Frenchmen?

REPUBLICANS PRESENT BILL TO GET U.S. OUT OF THE UN! Along with the UN out of the U.S. ............

Remember seeing those signs put up by the John Birch Society in the 70s- "Get Us Out of the UN"? You don't see them now, it seems. Has the JBS gone out of business?

Let me guess: Lincoln Chaffee is not one of the co-sponsors, is he?
No, he's a Senator; how about the Speaker? He's as much a RINO as Chaffee, isn't he? Bet he's not a co-sponsor.

But, the committees largely do not serve a noble purpose; they serve to block bills. True, but rather than do away with committees, just limit their powers. It's a good thing to have smaller groups go over the detail, hold hearings, etc., and to summarize and present recommendations to the full House. But they should be given a strict timetable, with a requirement that committe reports are due on a specified date -- no killing the bill stalling it in committee. Fail to deliver the report, and the House will vote on it without the committee's recommendations.

You are sooo right. It's best that we not let anyone know how we feel about the UN. Let's just lie and say we love it.

Good idea. I knew not having committees would be an issue in some respects with difficulty in streamlining things.
Your solution is much more reasonable......
It would be nice to see Bush push for it. Just once I would like to see every bill get voted on by the full floor of both houses. What the heck are our elected officials doing all day when they seem to barely scratch the surface on the number of introduced bills?
