Right now, there isn't a Republican presidential candidate ready to run in 2008. We don't need anymore "its my turn" Bob Doles. O'Reilly thinks hillary is a shoe in because the Republicans don't have anyone who can beat her. Cheney needs a rest, John McCain was once a contender but he has been wishy washy lately. Anyone have any nominees?

Me too! If 200 years ago, G.Washington won in his late 50's early -mid.60's, I don't see why not! And with the 50s and 60s being considered as 'elderly' way back in those days; I think G.W. did pretty darn good! Fiftys and sixties then, would probably be equivalent to 70s and 80s now!

That's why I included the phrase, "humanly speaking." A mass revival could occur, along with reformation of the church and society, if God so desires it. As a Calvinist, I also believe in the sovereignty of God over all human affairs. In the long run, we know who wins, q.v., the Book of Revelation. However, we must also look at the political and cultural situation in our country realistically. We must also analyze prevailing political and historical trends and the logical consequences of actions such as poorly controlled immigration by nationals of Third World countries. I would like to see a President Alan Keyes or a President Howard Phillips, but it does not appear possible at this time. We may have to settle for a President Tom Ridge or a President Jeb Bush and pray and work for a better day.

We need Joe, he's a great guy. I don't think he's quite ready for a Presidential run. Expect to see him challenge for either FL Gov or FL Senate in the '06 cycle (I believe Graham is up again). If he has any aspirations whatsoever of heading for 1600 PA Ave he'd be better served to run for Gov. Senators just don't get elected very often. People what to know what you have 'done', not what you have voted for, supported, etc.

Despite all the concern about Jeb as a 3rd Bush I still think he is the most viable candidate, and he is different enough from G.W. to make a clear case for running on his own accomplishments and his own agenda. I think the Dems may be a bit shy about that one: 3 Kennedys have run for President, and God knows how many more for other offices. They are the 'American Monarchy' in many people's eyes. That dog won't hunt among those who are not already hardcore partisans looking to make noise.

As for Jebs performance - as a Floridian since '96 I think he's done a fine job. Education, roads etc. are all improving under his term. As a 'border' state Gov he has some international dealings and understanding.

Also remember, he will have 2 years after he leaves Tallahassee to 'shore up' his resume and prepare. He will be in a much better position than a sitting Gov as he can focus wherever he wants or needs.

I agree with you. Think about it: The only books that have come out about the Clintons in the White House, both by supporters and detractors, have been about their scandals! Nothing positive has ever been said about either Clinton. By 2008, more of the high crimes and misdemeanors of the Clintons will come to light. This woman is right now among the walking dead.

She's also too "regal" to be elected President. She will never agree to actually get down and dirty her hands in electoral politics. She expects both the nomination and the Presidency to be handed to her. She's that delusional. Plus, if she runs, this so-called "smartest woman in America" will be exposed as one of the dumbest. She has no real political instincts. The instincts she has are so juvenile that they're offensive. The only way she would stand a chance is if the media pushed her like they've never pushed a candidate before. But by 2008, the erosion of influence of the mainstream liberal media will have reached a point that even a lock-step campaign will prove ineffective.

Gov. Owens is a good pick. And think about it: Governors stand the best chance of becoming President, e.g., Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush -- every President in the last quarter century, save one, has been a Governor.

True. I think being a governor is almost a prerequisite for the job. Exceptions are made for Generals and former Vice Presidents but that's about it.
