President Bush and First Lady Laura welcomed Philippines President Glora Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel T. Arroyo to the White House today for a rare but official state visit. The President and Arroyo held a joint press conference today and addressed the war on terror as well as the prospects for peace in the Middle East. This evening, the First Couple hosted a state dinner honoring the visiting President Arroyo. Also announced today, White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer will be leaving his post later this year. We'll miss you, Ari! Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Thanks for filling me in on Filipino trditional style..

as said, I meant no disrespect to her..

Perhaps the sleeves could have been scaled down a bit?

She's very classy indeed.

(I am pretty tiny myself!)

Menu:

Maryland crab was the first course. Main course lamb, achiote polenta, fava beans and cipollini onion. The wines were a 2001 Pride Mountain Viognier and a 2000 DuMol Pinot Noir "Finn," both from California.
Dessert: Mango sorbets, filled with chocolate mouse, and draped with leis made of colored sugar and chocolate.

You know, Im trying to think of who designed that dress and for the life of me, I can't remember the name. And I just heard it a few hours ago. I remember Michael Faircloth designed her Inaugural dress. I liked that one.

She should consult with a new designer. My big thing is the bows. Never liked em, and never will. But Mrs. Bush is a beautiful person inside and out regardless of what she's wearing.

You must have muscle cramps in your hands from linking all those pictures! Wow! Thanks!

The President and Mrs. Bush have hosted three state dinners now. The first was for Mexico's President Vincente Fox. Anybody remember the second one?

I think you are right about the scoop neck! It would be much more flattering to her face!

It was for the Polish President, but please don't make me spell his name.

I wonder if the President and First Lady shared a romantic dance at the dinner?

I respect her so much, and think she is a very beautiful person, but those bows! I hate to dwell on them, but they're just right there in front.

I guess the only thing that matters is that Mrs. Bush is happy with the dress and she's comfortable in it.

The Texas buckle sounds good. Not sure I should persue this line of "thought" much further ... I've stirred up enough trouble for one night.

Arroyo has been a great ally to us..... Indeed, in her speech President Arroyo said to President GWB: In a time of need, a trusted friend does not ask why, but how. I saw our President gave a big smile when he heard it.

Yes, I agree. I have often wondered about those bows everytime her dress is equipped with them. Maybe it is a turn on for the President.

She's done scoop necks before and they are quite becoming on her, but she normally pairs them with super full skirts and--you guessed it--a bow!

Oscar de la Renta did THIS dress? You have GOT to be kidding me. He's one of fave designers. But the bow thing?

Okay, do we think that perhaps the First Lady is the one who requests the bows, thinking that they hide her , er ah, tummy?

I love her, period. But sometimes, her clothes just leave me scratching my head.

And I agree with Twinkie. It's SPRING. Wouldn't something flowing and lovely with bright flowers all over it have just been smashing?

I have to go back to making my "My label" designer clothes. People have bought them right off of my bod, perhaps someone will see them and refer me to the First Lady. I could do such a smashing job for her.
