If they had holed up anywhere inside of Texas and were found, they would have been arrested and taken to the Legislature immediately. They ran out of state to prevent being forced back to their appointed responsibilities. They are SOooo irresponsible . . .

I hope your bill does die. If would violate our much tattered rights to private property and freedom of association. If you don't want to live in such a place, move!

I feel there is a strong case against the TX Democrat Party, possibly the DNC, and the individual representatives to recoup the expenses of a special session.

I wrote an email a few minutes ago to the TX Attorney General inquiring about such a lawsuit. If anyone else thinks this is a worthwhile pursuit, the Texas AG is Mr. Greg Abbot. His email is:

greg.abbott@oag.state.tx.us

Thanks.

Big 'DUH' on my part! LOL Of course that's why!

I can't tell you how much this colors my opinion of Texas - I'm still fairly new to the state. I thought I was moving from dem country (WA state) to Republican country (that's not why I moved here, but it would have been reason enough!). I'm disgusted by this on sooo many levels. I have read many comments on FR that Texas dems were more moderate - almost like Republicans in many cases. But this is a lefty tactic through and through.

Don't feel alone. I was shocked by this completely. And I was born and (mostly) raise here (Air Force Brat. Moved around a lot but have lived my whole adult life here since '72).

But the GOOD news is that the reason they are doing this is because they don't have the POWER in the legislature and this is surely going to have an effect on the next election cycle (hopefully). The 'RATS have controlled the Texas Legislature ever since there WAS a Texas Legislature - until the last election !!

This could be a great campaign theme.

This time, vote for someone who will stick around until the job is done. Vote for _____________

Then make a list of all the RAT issues that never got completed because the RATS all went into holes.

Shalom.

Thank you for your comment, I need to keep that in mind!

Yup and that made me think of the saying "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Except in the case of the Chicken D's they got goin all the way to OK. Which isn't ok by me!

Hey! Maybe that could be a campagin theme somehow too!

LOL - now you have my campaign theme juices flowin! (Such as they are) How 'bout:
What were your legislators doing during the 2003 session? Show Reps at the Capital doing various legislative work; then show the pix of the 4 dems on the balcony at the Holiday Inn in OK - or even better by a pool if someone could get a pix like that! End by saying: Vote for __________ who'll stick around to finish the job when the goin gets tough.

Got this from The Australian:

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,6437016%255E2703,00.html

Texan Republican Governor Rick Perry called the rebels "cowardly and childish" while Republican MPs pasted faces of their missing colleagues on milk cartons and joked about releasing a pack of cards bearing their images.

Mr DeLay called the rebels disloyal to their state.

"I have never turned tail and run. Even when I'm losing, I stand and fight for what I believe. It's so Texas contrary," he said.

A Texas FReeper send me a FReep mail and is going to the Ardmore Holiday Inn for a FReep ! They left me their cell phone and would like to hook up with any other FReepers that might be doing the same.

If anyone is going to the Holiday Inn in Oklahoma, please let me know !

If I happened to be in that area and got a whiff of something that resembled someone smoking Crack I think I would sure report it just to be on the safe side. Don't need no riff raff bringing in stuff like that. Think about the Children! :)

And then there is that one fella hanging out with them that looks alot like one of those Accused sexual perverts you see in the Post office postings.
