How large are Stroud and Davenport?
To: Wneighbor
I can't recall where I heard but I seem to recall a wind speed being recorded of 380 I think.
Actually, the highest verified recording was 318mph in the May 3rd, 1999 OKC-area tornado.

Not very large!
Gas leak in N. OKC. They have a helicopter up in N. OKC and all you see is black except for all the emergency vehicles.

Well, if this continues on its same trajectory and intensity, I'll need to get my Okie Net up on the roof and catch okies blowing over. {I live on the Ark-Ok line.}
Jokes aside, these events are always nerve-wracking and dangerous, for sure.
Cell has moved toward Stroud. But back at Chandler, another rotation seems to be forming, so they aren't clear yet, either.

No deaths in Okla. twister
Tornado leaves $100M in damages in 19-mile wake, officials report
By Associated Press
May 10, 2003
MOORE, Okla. - The morning after a tornado destroyed more than 300 houses and businesses in and around Oklahoma City, firefighters went from one wrecked home to another Friday and spray-painted a big, red X on each roof if no one was trapped.
There were a lot of Xs: Grateful authorities said that remarkably, the twister that carved a 19-mile path through the most densely populated part of the state did not kill a single person.

I'm in TX, but I've been on the phone with my relatives in NW OKC all evening. My father (76) lives alone in Bethany and I was really concerned about him.
He is OK, but really shook up. He said he spent about 20 minutes in the bathtub with a foam mattress over him. All his southern windows were broken out and his covered porch on that side has a huge dent now. Of course, he has no power. I hope he goes to a motel.
My daughter is in Guthrie this evening. I think the storm just missed her. Her husband and my granddaughter were spending the evening in north OKC and they left home to go to the basement at Penn Square Mall. It appears several folks did that same thing.

Should move to the south and should stay to the south of Sapulpa also luckily. I will have to check the radar later. They just showed some video in a local news update.
