oh my, we had all better take the word of "Lou Grant" as gospel! He does know so much, after all!!
what an irrelevant pile of garbage he is. i wish Asner, Glover, Belafonte and the rest of their ilk would pack up and move to Cuba. we'd be glad to be rid of them.

"by Cuban standards, the trial was fair and judicious"Translation = They actually bothered with a one day trial instead of shooting them outright.

I didn't think it was possible, but after reading that transcript I realize that Ed Asner is even stupider than I imagined.

Whether it be the Ortega run Communist Party in Nicaragua, the communist insurgents in El Salvador or the Communist regime in Cuba, Ed Asner has loved them all.
Our nation resembles nothing that Asner loves. We allow free speach. We hold genuine elections. We allow our citizens to come and go as they please.
Only a few nations in this world's history have been so bad that they had to forbid their citizens leave, even shoot them or execute them for trying. Ed has loved them all.
Asner seemingly doesn't even understand the electorial process, the electoral college and the way presidents are selected. If he does, he even objects to that.
Why in the hell doesn't he move to Cuba and set up shop down there?

Replies in order:
Glover - making $$$ in Hollywood and endorsing MCI. Hey, Danny! No private film and telecommunications industries in Cuba with all the big bucks the American companies give you.
Belafonte - Has-been. Admires a country whose "justice" system executes you 3 daaaaaay-o's after trial.
Asner - Another has-been. Proud of playing "Mr. Freedom-of-the-Press" in "Lou Grant". Maybe Granma or Radio Havana can give him a job.

"We didn't have a free election in 2002." Just what the he!! is he talking about? The election of 2002 featured the RATS pulling every dirty trick in the book in Minnesota and New Jersey and actually stealing the election in South Dakota. If he is speaking of the presidential election of 2000, he better back off a bit on his meds.

If big Ed is correct about the 2000 election, then Bush might be eligible for two more terms.

Asner: "Uh, my country is much more fortunate so it can't, it doesn't have to afford the excesses that Fidel Castro has to resort to by constantly being embargoed by the United States." We can't buy Castro's cigars so he has to shoot people who want to leave his country?

Why in hell does anyone care what some lousy actor has to say about political issues? His only saving grace is I know what side to take on a given issue, if he's for it, I'm against it, and if he's against it, I'm probably for it. Thanks Lou!

What a load of crap, what Eddy Arsner really meant was "you didn't let us steal the election in 2002". I've got bad news for the election scammers... this time we have our eyes on you and those military ballots. With any luck these guys will assume room temperature before the next election. By natural means of course.

Asner conveniently ignores the tens of thousands of freedom-loving Cubans who have voted with their feet and escaped from Fidel's gulag.
Then he complains about the effects of the US embargo and of how that forces poor Fidel to do these terrible things, and of how its the imminent threat of the Bush administration. The idiot seems not to know that this embargo has been going on for close on 40-50 years now, going back to Asner's beloved Kennedy administration. If socialism is so great, why is Cuba bothered at all by an embargo by a decadent Western capitalist country? Surely their multitude of flourishing Maxist brethren countries around the world (how many are there now, one or two, maybe?) can help them out? Mugabe or Chavez, maybe, when they aren't bankrupting or otherwise ruining their own countries?
