O'Reilly Seeks to Destroy Georgia Republican Governor

There is a thread on it. I did a search, using the word "prom." The one I found has over 300 replies. I didn't read the article word-for-word but I am wondering if this was a party held by a group of people separate from the prom. I know that it was a private affair.

Question: if the Governor was not a Republican, would you still be so upset at O'Reilly? Bill said what he said now if the Gov. has any balls he will come on himself and make a statement of his view, instead of sending a rep to talk for him. Bill is tough on everyone even the Pope and Bill is a Catholic, that is why I like him.

ALBANY, Ga. May 1 — A year after holding their first integrated prom, some students at Taylor County High School have decided to again hold a separate, private party for whites only.

While many whites say they still plan to attend next week's integrated prom, the decision to hold the whites-only prom this Friday saddened senior Gerica McCrary, who helped organize last year's dance.

"I cried," said McCrary, who is black. "The black juniors said, 'Our prom is open to everyone. If you want to come, come.'"

Juniors are in charge of planning the prom each year and last year they decided to have just one dance the first integrated prom in 31 years in the rural Georgia county 150 miles south of Atlanta.

Until then, parents and students organized separate proms for whites and blacks after school officials stopped sponsoring dances, in part because they wanted to avoid problems arising from interracial dating.

This year, a small number of white juniors decided they wanted a separate prom.

"They influenced the others," said McCrary, who plans to major in biology at Columbus State University. "They didn't vote on anything. They said, 'This is what we're going to do.'"

The school has 439 students, 232 of them black. McCrary and a white friend passed out fliers informing students of all races that they would be welcome at the May 9 prom at nearby Fort Valley State University.

The private prom is Friday night 50 miles away in Columbus.

Erin Posey, a white senior, said the entire junior class joined together in hosting last year's prom, but this year's junior class wasn't as unified.

"I think a lot of seniors were disappointed," she said. "Now we have to choose between two groups of friends."

Posey plans to attend both proms.

"I had some white friends who were not going to the other (inclusive) prom," she said. "I wanted to have time with everybody. I'll have a lot of (black) friends there, too. A lot more of the seniors are going to be at the mixed one."

After school integration, separate proms were common in the rural South, but Taylor County was among the last to cling to the practice.

Glenda Latimore, a 1972 graduate, was in the first class to have separate black and white proms. Now her 16-year-old son, Gerard, is preparing for prom night.

As the black junior class president, her son helped organize the open-to-all prom. The class also has a white president.

"I would have liked to see it together this year," said Latimore, an outfielder on the school's baseball team. "My class would have, too. It just didn't happen this year."

Glenda Latimore said relatives in Philadelphia and New Jersey laugh when they read about Taylor County's prom. She said residents here are "nice and friendly," but they still have a problem with proms.

"It seems like it's something secret," she said. "The white people are afraid to speak up against the separation.

"But I went to a black prom and I had fun," she said. "It didn't kill me, so I tell my son, 'Just go to the prom and have fun. Don't come out hating anyone.'"

You're obsessed with this all-white prom.

Perdue is a coward. He sends a shoe-size IQ black woman to debate O'Reilly; she ends up reading most of what she had to say, which was not much. He cut her to ribbons because she was not prepared to say much of anything.

O'Reilly's incensed about this all-white prom because it's an "in-your-face" to the blacks in that community. Remember, last year, this same school sponsored an integrated prom.

Perdue ran on a vote on a referendum on a pseudo-confederate flag, and the legislature deprived him of that.

He can't afford to hack off the NASCAR crowd any further, so he's hiding.

O'Reilly lost all his credibility on race issues when he called Hispanic-Americans "wetbacks" on his program several months ago.

He is not telling the entire story.The School is in its 2nd year of having a school sponsored prom.The school prom is being held at a local black college.Purhaps the kids who held the private prom were feeling a little of the tyranny of the majority.Coming on the heels of the flag flap many rural whites in Ga.are beginning to feel that Atlanta Liberals and their largest voting block (45-50% of Dem Vote is Black)spend to much time insulting them and their heritage.Rural whites turned on the Dems with a vengous last election.The Atlanta Papers can't stand this switch and have done everything they can to play the race card.

I don't see anything wrong in having an all white prom if thats what people want. Blacks have seperated themselves from society in a number of ways. The NAACP is one example, imagine the WAACP and the outrage it would create.

Fame is a killer. O'Reilly is walking into the trap that will destroy him. He thinks he is smarter than God. I wrote him off months ago when he made fun of the Pope. He will
do harm to Fox News in the long run because of his arrogance.

O'Reilly was at his finest tonight. If I were Sonny Perdue, I'd go on O'Reilly's show and make it clear that I am governor of the state of Georgia, I was elected by the people of Georgia and I will conduct matters in my state in the way I see fit.

O'Reilly said that the Governor must go down to the school's integrated prom and should hold a news conference. O'Reilly: Butt OUT. Who do you think you are?

Georgia is all ready in a state of racial tension, due to the flag issue,

I haven't really cared for O'Reilly that much as of late, however, he really did sound like a know-it-all ass this evening.

Mr. O'Reilly has always impressed me as a liberal who saw where the future lay in broadcasting and read a few chapters in a book about how to be a conservative. He still has the liberal approach, though, and it is obnoxious.

Yes, I would still be upset. I don't like O'Reilly's pompous "I'll save the world" attitude.

Don't you think that when rich elites like O'Reilly send their kids to an all-white rich school that they are choosing segregation?

By the way, this same school is holding an integrated prom this week. The kids in question organized a pre-prom all-white affair? What, pray tell, can or should Governor Perdue do about it? It already happened, and no amount of Swaggart "They have sinned," bs from Perdue is going to change it.

Does residual racism exist in the South? Yes. Does it exist in the North? Yes.

I think the constant maligning of Southern whites as racists is unfair, I think the enclaves of Liberalism and elitism need to examine their own lives before they beat up misguided 18 year olds at a private prom.

I am familiar with Albany Georgia because I have family living there. I have never heard of this school but I will contact my family and ask them about this!

O'Reilly has gotten very much impressed with his own power. If a politico or institution does not bend to his will he launches a virtual vendetta. This has been happening a lot on his show in recent months. The most ludicrous crusade is claiming the LA Times is a "liberal newspaper." I am avoid the NY Times whenever I can because it has become an ideological rag, but the LA Times DOES in fact run some conservative commentators from time to time on the op-ed page. He latches onto an issue and will not get off it and in his recent interview with Tim Russert he was fascinating but you could tell by the way he talked of his success, the way he used the word "power," etc that he is really full of himself these days. It is a pity.
I prefer Goldsboro country on MSNBC, to be honest. A magazine called him an O'Reilly wannabie -- NO he is what O'Reilly USED to be before he was consumed with his power.

By the way, why is she stupid? That is an extraordinary snap judgement on your part. So she is not good on tv, maybe she's nervous. To call the woman stupid might make some think you have issues with sex and race.
