MY KID'S TEACHER
My Kid's Teacher

Just before going to bed tonight, as I kissed my oldest boy good night, he perked up and reminded me of the note his teacher had sent home on Friday. I assured him that I would read it, and tucked him in.
I knew that the note was about the upcoming School Book Fair, he attended his first one last year, and it was a great experience for him. It was the first time he was trusted with money to spend all on his own.
He is a First grader with Third Grade reading skills, I was an avid reader as a kid, and every time I see him sitting with a book on his lap, I feel like I'm walking on air.
I went downstairs and looked for the note, I wanted to see what was expected of him, and how payment for the books would be handled.
I have copied the note word by word below, the note written, and sent home, by the person who is teaching my boy to read and write.
I have left the particulars out for obvious reasons.
I am sending the note to Tallahassee, and asking for this teacher's removal.

He turned in a great figurine of Condi Rice. Perhaps that's the problem -- the shock has destroyed her ability to write a coherent sentence...

Probably because they've run out and rely on donations from parents. My kids attend a public high school - in an exclusive part of town, mind you - and haven't had toilet paper in the restrooms for years...or doors on the stalls.
From speaking with other folks on the Internet, I understand this is not all that uncommon.

I don't see nothing wrong with that note.

My son did a biography of Frederick Douglas and contrasted his philosophy with WBD Dubois (I hope that's correct, it's been a few years.) He got an "A" and his teacher was Black and we were living in Pittsburgh at the time. There is hope, dont' give up all!

Good grief Luis, at least I have an excuse for the way I've been writing lately, but this is a college educated person...

Good luck on getting this teacher removed, I doubt anyone will care.
I've had similar problems with my sons second grade teacher as well as the Socialist indoctrination that is being taught in his school.
He came home with a paper about how if he had a million dollars he would bring world peace and buy homes for all of the homeless because they can't help being homeless blah blah blah.
We've never talked to him about homeless people so I know this all came from his school. I can tell you that we've talked about homeless people since.
They went on a field trip to a local Life and Science museum a couple of weeks ago and I had to send in a permission slip as well as $6 for the trip. There was also a request attached to the permission slip for donations from the parents that could afford it to please send in donations for the parents that either forget or don't care enough to send in the $6 for their own children.
My son took his own $6 and that is all.
I want to put them in private school this fall but am having trouble convincing my husband. Luckily I did get them into a year round school so they will be out of this horrific school that they are in. I'll have to keep working on the private school with my hubby.

Oh, a little thing like that doesn't stop them. (They can no longer afford hall monitors or the yard duty aides either.)

What's worse is this:
My best friend, who happens to be an English teacher at the University of Toledo, does not discourage Ebonics outside of the school. He says, "As long as you're in my class, you're going to write properly; however, if you wish to use Ebonics outside of the classroom, that's fine with me".
What's that sh!t all about?!
I graduated from the University of Toledo in 1995 and am outraged!!!
