We keep letting illegal aliens into our country this will be true. Clinton is just predicting what he engineered.

Old Europe is exactly that--it's weighted down with old people who need pensions and other care from the state (remember, the Euros promised their old people a lot more in terms of gov't assistance back when they were younger--and taxed them more back then--so the old Europeans don't have nearly as much in savings, they were counting on the state). The European economy will stagnate because of higher and higher taxes needed to pay for the elderly. Toung white people aren't having a lot of kids, certainly not enough to meet replacement population. The people who are having kids are in large part Muslims--and they don't always fit in very well with mainstream European society (it's worse in some countries than in others, France has it the worst). Muslim integration into Europe, combined with their stagnant economy, will be the two biggest issues in Europe for a long time to come. We are in no danger of being overtaken by Europe.
China has the potential to overtake us, in terms of people, but the state has dumb policies which impede the growth of the economy, corruption is rampant, and most of the chinese are peasant farmers. If China got its act together, it could threaten us--but it would also threaten India, Russia, Japan, and Australia, and those four nations would probably work together (or at least two or three would) to keep China from becoming militarily dominant in the region.
Our military technology is so far ahead of everyone else that they can't threaten us--we can take out any armor or even bunkers with smart bombs, and when we get our lasers working, we'll be able to shoot down enemy ICBMs and then smaller missiles as well. We have by far the best armed forces in the world in every branch, including but not limited to the army, navy, air force, and CIA/special forces. We aren't falling to 2nd place any time soon--as long as we don't elect a president who wants it to happen.

With Clinton's past help, and GW's lack of concern and whimpishness Re Red China, China may well be our successor.

What's Clinton's problem? He seems to giving this speech about the US becoming a second rate power almost every week now. There's been a few threads on this. This isn't the first time. He started giving speeches on this a couple of years ago if i'm not mistaken.

"This is a unique moment in U.S. history, a brief moment in history, when the U.S. has preeminent military, economic and political power. It won't last forever. It's one thing to say that American power won't last forever (which is obvious, even though leftists seem to think this observation makes them smart); it's quite another to say that we should hasten or welcome or even anticipate a decline. Unfortunately, leftists can't seem to tell the difference.
When people become old, they often need wheelchairs. Everyone will become old eventually. Uh, that doesn't mean 25-year-olds should go out and get wheelchairs, and start wheeling themselves around instead of walking, to prepare for when they're old and need wheelchairs.
I mean, 1. that's just stupid, 2. it will make the decline come faster (legs atrophy)...
... which is what leftists want in this case, of course.

He oughtta know. He spent 8 years, totally dedicated to working toward exactly that. Heckuva guy, that Clinton.

China's bulky bureaucracy won't allow her to become the dominant power.
China will have to break up into pieces before real growth takes place.

Clinton seems not to have noticed the news about SARS. There may well be no unified China in 30 years, and it will certainly at the least be considerably weaker than one would have predicted a few months ago.
For that matter, the squabbling over the Iraq War will probably mean that the EU will be considerably weaker than one would have predicted a couple of years ago.

Europe? Not as long as the eurocracy tries to run their economy using socialist rules.
China? They're more likely to implode before they shed their third-world baggage.
Clinton? When did he ever have foreign policy creds?
Of course, if certain Dem-wits get a turn behind the wheel, all bets are off ;-)

Clinton: China or Europe Will Replace U.S. as Top Power
This was said by a guy who uses cigars and Macadamia nuts as erotic objects. Remember that liberals were also gushing over their trips to both the USSR and Cuba as having been to the future and seeing that it worked! Besides, the USA + the New Europe (including Australia) will greatly outweigh anything China or the Old Europe can come up with.

Look at demographics, Europe is aging fast and will die off . China, on the other hand, is having a bubble of males (look out), then their population will colapse . If we make it out of the next decade on top no one could catch US for a century .
To: kattracks
Give China another 20-30 years of relative stability and it'll become the dominant power in Asia, but not worldwide. That'll have to wait until the second half of the century.
