Boeing Commercial should be allowed to be spun off. John McDonnell is holding back the latest generation of airliner, so he is obstructing and taking advantage of the company.

How about flying in a plane being assembled by one of their "Religion of Peace" French transplant citizens? They make up well over 12% of the population now.

Sorry. I disagree.

I'm not going to help a company just because it's non-union.
Political ideals can change. It's no big deal.

I'm Christian first, so I would rather support the company that is going to benefit the most workers and their families.

What other response were they supposed to give?
"Yes you're right, screw the French, we're going to throwaway our entire fleet and switch to Boeing, a move that will surely bankrupt our company but at least the damn French won't get any money."

Would that have satisfied you?

Alternate response:

We will sacrifice our business-plan on the altar of protectionism, and immediately begin flying two different types of aircraft.

And still probably bankrupt the company, only it will take longer.

If you've ever taken an item back to Wal-Mart, then you know what I mean. They don't care what, if anything, is wrong with the product, if you don't like the item for whatever reason,it's refund time.

Not strictly true.

I purchased a PC game on CD-ROM and installed it properly (I'm a software engineer) and it caused problems with my machine running properly. I tried several modifications to my system to get things straight but eventually reached the point where I said, "Enough".

I returned the product to WalMart and explained the above to them. They politely showed me their written policy regarding "opened" software and would not refund my purchase price nor would they allow me to choose another title. I had one coice: take another disc of the same title and try again.

I'm reasonable to a point so I agreed. I opened and installed the disc and got the same result. And this is a machine that is beefy and runs some heavy, graphics intensive applications.

I returned to WalMart, knowing what I was going to get for an answer and explained the situation again. They wouldn't budge. So I was stuck with a piece of software I couldn't use. Eventually I sold it on eBay and got my original investment back, but it was a pain in the ass nevertheless.

Nice response. I have never flown JetBlue. I have flown on Airbus equipment. I do not care for their planes as they seem more noisy and cheaply made. For a while I thought it was just me, but two friends of mine who fly more often than I feel the same way and avoid them whenever possible.

All the stores (at least the ones I've dealt with) are taking that policy with digitally copyable stuff (DVDs, CDs, and CD-ROMs). The excuse I've heard is copy right law which I'm not sure I buy but I am sure that touches on why. My guess is that you can copy stuff for so cheap and leave no evidence of ever having touched it (unlike analog stuff like videotapes) that they're afraid of getting scammed (buy the software and a blank CD, copy the software to the blank CD, return the software, keep the blank, brand spanking new software for $1). Knowing how this stuff goes somebody probably got scammed big time before they figured out they could be.

Your assesment of Mcdondald is spot on and exactly why I just voted my Boeing proxy votes to boot him and Stonecipher off the BOD.

A point I might make here is that during the latest aircraft downturn, While Boeing has layed off approx half of their workforce to reflect conditions, AirBus has continued building planes (called whitetails) and parking them....all subsidized. This has in effect flooded and already glut market of planes and further reduced their value. Airbus then makes offers that airlines simply can't refuse either price wise or maintainence support wise.

The underlying strategy for Airbus is to use the EU subsudies and what amounts to "dumping" to essentially take a run at putting Boeing out of business. Boeing's strategy has been to attempt to maintain share value even in light of revenue drops of approx 50% since 9/11 and all the while develop new aircraft so that once the storm is weathered it will emerge stronger than ever.

The only thing I can think of is that the manufacturer will NOT take it back from retailers as defective once it is opened. Otherwise, Walmart and others would take it back from consumers.

Their response matters not to me. I wouldn't have cared had they not responded at all. I got my beef with them off my chest and that's all I care about.

That's probably it, it's too common a policy at this point the root has to be further up the supply chain.

That's actually a good answer, I can respect that and don't even have room to agree or disagree. Tip of the hat to you.

They do not have to "throw away" their fleet, nor run 2 types of planes. They could sell their Airbuses, buy Boeings (heck, at this point, I's appreciate it if they'd buy Ilyushin) and build their Boeing fleet. They have about 3 times as many planes on order as they have in their current fleet....they could switch now. Flying only 1 model of planes make sense...but it does not mean that you can never switch which plane it is.

John McDonnell is holding back the latest generation of airliner

Thanks for the info but frankly the best compettition to the 320 is the old? 737. I don't think Jet Blu is really looking at reality and is sure getting a big dose of kickback in the way of financing etc...

Do you know if they're even paying for the planes they have yet? I heard they were not and that would give the bottom line a boost for sure.

I WONDER how many of you people who are bashing Jet Blue DRIVE a Japanese, Korean, or European made car and NOT an American made car?

How many now - LET'S get a count!
