The head of the National Organization for Women's Morris County chapter is opposing a double-murder charge in the Laci Peterson case, saying it could provide ammunition to the pro-life lobby.
"If this is murder, well, then any time a late-term fetus is aborted, they could call it murder," Morris County NOW President Mavra Stark said on Saturday.

Exactly! The term "pro-choice" is is meaningless. They only promote and scream about abortion on demand. If they were really only interested in what women "do with their own bodies", they'd be lobbying for countless things like prostitution, drug use, etc.
They only care about ABORTION. That's why they're not "pro-choice", they're pro-abortion.

NOW this. They say string him up but not on the baby's account. God made it as plain as he could, by delivering that baby to the shore ahead of his mother, that he wants that baby spoken for.Post-mortem "choice" is what they will argue?

Stark evidence of NOW's lunacy.
NOW can be placed next to the UN, an area reserved for the repugnant and irrelevant.
Moreover, Marva's very lucky her momma gave birth to her and she should look deep into whatever is left of her puny soul to see that Laci Peterson and her family were very much excited and looking forward to welcoming of their new little baby, Conor, into their warm loving arms.

NOW now finds itself in the position of defending a person accused of murdering his wife and child, on the grounds that the child wasn't a child. Truth is stranger than fiction!

unbelievable... I know many people here won't want to consider this, but I believe the concept of fetal homicide is effective only when it considers the intent of the mother.
Few are capable of seeing the distinction as useful, and most here on FR will cry foul because of their religious beliefs.
We could do much for fetal protection if we could find more ways of compromising.
May Laci and her baby boy rest in peace, and may their loving families find solace in knowing how many millions of us grieve with them at this time.

They call it a "woman's right to do what she will with her own body". Blech!
To: RGSpincich
If they can somehow prove this baby was developed enough to live on it's own (don't know if that's possible), wouldn't that help?
This is indeed yet another unforgivable position NOW has taken.
Foxnews reporter Claudia Cowan states Scott had one of his brothers' ID on him, along with $10,000.00. This must be what prompted one reporter to ask the Chief of Police Friday night if 'another family member' had been arrested (COP said no).

I don't think they are going to win in this case... They will be losers, and maybe it is just about time the Supreme Court make it so that just shuts down this organization.. Political whores anyhow on the liberal side... (oops! Just my opinion)

Reviews of prenatal check ups will attest to that and will nail SP's coffin shut, hopefully.

To convict Peterson of murdering his unborn son, prosecutors would have to prove either that he intended to kill the fetus or knew that it would die as a result of Laci Peterson's death.
Let's see:
Killing the pregnant mother,
Partially dismembering the pregnant mother,
Wrapping the pregnant mother in plastic sheeting,
Dropping the pregnant mother into a body of water and weighting the body down with concrete.
Scott surely wouldn't expect the baby to be born in Cleveland.
If the mother's death was truly accidental, Scott probably would have called 911, got emergency help, and the baby could have been delivered and lived.

Prosecutors are able to charge Peterson with two counts of murder because California homicide law states that a fetus is viable if it is in the "post-embryonic" period, typically seven to eight weeks into a pregnancy, legal sources said. Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.

Mavra Stark: I applaud your approach to that goddess-given right which right now is the sad bone of contention in so many political dis(cordia)courses. I'd like to share a shout-ku with you that I composed for the 13th annual Womyn's Night of Bloodmoon, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
(to be shouted, with croud participation in brackets)
My child is my blood! [Afterbirth, ha!]
I spill my blood on the earth! [Afterbirth, ho!]
Blood that's mine to spill! [Afterbirth, afterbirth, ha ha ha!]
I have taken a vow against thanking, as it implies the servile submissiveness of anti-Rosie-Riveter 50's maternal figures, but accept that you are appreciated from a position of strength.
Rooted in vaginal heartiness,
C. F.

The head of the National Organization for Women's Morris County chapter is opposing a double-murder charge in the Laci Peterson case, saying it could provide ammunition to the pro-life lobby. This is sick, what if the baby was only 1 day or one week from being delivered, then he or she is still a fetus?
Aren't laws in all states such that a woman can't have an abortion past the second trimester? Laci Peterson was well past that, so how can NOW take this position?
To: Mark Felton
"If this is murder, ...and it is
well, then any time a late-term fetus is aborted, they could call it murder," Duh. That's because it is murder.
