Halle Berry says she thinks she's 'ugly'
Knight Ridder ^

Posted on 04/19/2003 9:01:58 PM PDT by Pokey78

Halle Berry solidified her place as one of the world's sexiest women with her role as Bond girl Jinx in "Die Another Day."

But the Oscar-winning actress (Monster's Ball) says she still doesn't see herself as a beautiful star.

"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," she told the German magazine Journal fur die Frau. "I see myself without makeup every morning and that's why I don't have illusions anymore. I certainly don't feel like a big star."

Berry added that being black still hinders her progress in Hollywood.

"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. These narrow-minded people underestimate the public and prevent advancement in the industry."

Berry's next film will be "X-2," the sequel to "X-Men" slated for a May 2 release.

She does seem to relish the victim role...her taste in men is a good example, if you have to enroll your husband in sex addiction clinic, that seems like a good time to dump him, wouldn't you think. Her father really did a number on her psyche.

1/64 is going back a real ways. Can you trace your family that far back? I would not qualify for reps because my mother who is half black isn't from this country. However, my father is a first generation American would have had to pay I am sure.

At first, I couldn't stand Halle Berry when she first started. Now I feel sorry for her. She wanted to committ suicide but she wouldn't because of her mom. We all have problems in life. I am sure Halle and I could compare notes pretty well. Eric Benet is trash.

The most profound hurt a person can suffer is for a parent to say 'I don't want you'. She watched her dad beat her mom to a bloody pulp before he left.

that would be 6 generations, about 120 years. yes i can trace mine back that far. race mixing-as we know it- in the US was very rare up until about 20 years ago. however, there was more race mixing among the slave population as slave owners would have their way with their female slaves. I think this is why alot of "african-americans" are a lighter complextion than sub-saharan africans.

I hope that America can put this behind and move on. With regards to family trees, mixed race marriages were never illegal in my mother's country. No race stigmas there, more class envy. I can trace my roots back that far. My black great-great grandmother married her former owner in the Anglican church, but no children. Her father's whole side are all from the Dutch ruled Antilles, Spanish and Dutch. My dad was full blooded Italian. My background defies explanation and have flummoxed many from black muslims to neo-nazi skinheads.

Is she had no children, then how are you her great-great grandson?

I believe why I find her ugly now is because inside she is an ugly person

I don't know anything about her, and the photo at the start of this thread is the first clear photo I've seen of her.

And she's repulsive looking.

Block out her face if you must... then you will understand the appeal.

If she's ugly, I would love to see beautiful !!!

LOL.

There's a photo of another actress on the web I could link you to--one who IS truly beautiful.

And even though she died of old age almost before I was born (which was a l-o-n-g time ago, because I'm an old guy), I'm too selfish to even share her photo with anyone!

If she had character, she'd cease to think of herself as ugly.

Who is it? I always liked Betty Paige... a pinup girl but she was pretty. I also liked Josephine Baker.
