Video shows Saddam walking down alleged Baghdad Street. Typical Iraqi celebration with Iraqis dancing on street with guns. Saddam embracing a kid. I think you can see a fire the background from an oil well. Overcast day.

Yes, that's why we don't do it here. Here in Houston I guess it was about three years ago the last time someone fired a gun in the air and it came down and killed a 4 y.o. girl. I always wondered about those videos where Saddam was firing the rifle in the air. Guess if you get hit you're supposed to feel lucky to have been chosen.
Don't know if anyone here watches Malcom in the Middle but there was a very funny episode a while back where the dad is out in the desert at night getting drunk with the fat german guy and they start shooting their pistols at the moon and scare their horses off and then the bullets come back down and the fat german gets hit in the ass and he has this line "If I'm so smart what am I doing in the middle of the night, drunk in the desert with a bullet in my ahss?"

Total bullschitt...thats not him. The guy on his right is grabbing him like a sack of potatoes. I've never seen anyone "grab" Saddam and get away with it. This is a double. He even looks younger. Good eye, if they aren't kissing his armpit, it's not him.

If you can get an Iraqi to blow himself up in a car, it seems like they are pretty passionate people. Given that there is probably no person in the world more hated than Saddam, including by large portions of the population in Baghdad, I wonder how allowing the crowd to waive their guns in the air around him makes sense.

Who's to say that it's A) Saddam and / or B) Baghdad A) It could be a double. B) I think that statue in the background shows that at least part of it was filmed in Baghdad.

I've seen bigger & more excited crowds at KMart when they announce a Blue Light Special. If you noticed the people in the crowd had to keep looking at the guys with guns to know when to cheer & raise their arms.
I'll beleive Saddam is alive when they string him up like Mussolini.

Saddam Hussein's senior bodyguard has fled Iraq with what at least one former U.N. weapons inspector calls "the smoking gun" proof positive of the Iraqi dictator's possession of undisclosed weapons of mass destruction, according to a report in Australia's Herald Sun newspaper.
The bodyguard one of the reported many doubles Saddam deploys to confuse potential assassins is named Abu Hamdi Mahmoud.
A member of Saddam's elite inner circle of bodyguards called the Murasiq Qun, Mahmoud was known as "The Gatekeeper," said the report, which noted that the muscular Mahmoud is a "Saddam lookalike, often photographed standing behind Saddam when he is seated, or to his left when on the move."
"I was inside the innermost circle where Saddam eats and sleeps. I was among the handful of bodyguards closest to him. Very few people are allowed close to Saddam. Many of the TV images you see of him were taken years ago. Most people now only speak to him over the phone. He usually calls them. If they have to call him back with information he wants, it is passed through his sons (Uday and Qusay) or (Deputy Prime Minister) Tariq Aziz. All those close to him have codes, which they use to access the outer circle. But even they can only come so close to Saddam before there is a cut-off point the Inner Circle. Even Tariq Aziz is checked to see if he is carrying weapons. Saddam knows fortunes are being offered to have him assassinated."
You are right, JHK, this was filmed years ago.
Also note, the mustache is not dyed black. Saddam is much too vain to allow such a thing.

People are slobbering all over him and pawing him and crowding him. NO WAY would the real Saddam allow that! He was a germ
freak, and too vain to allow anyone that close to his person.
Hard to imagine anyone believing this lie!

Well, that shows who's side she's on.

I've always wondered: do those bullets ever come back down to and wound the revelers? They do. I saw a story about someone who was killed that way at Mardi Gras or something.

Every freakin' Iraqi mud-hut village on up to the biggest cities has at least one statue and / or mural of Saddam. He was running a cult of personality on top his ruthless dictatorship.
Just because the Minister of Information says the location of the video is Bagdad doesn't make it so.

Let all the Arab would be terrorists travel to Iraq. They will all be dead before they reach Baghdad.

Well there are two moles on his cheek that are in the same place in all of the photos of him. There is also a dark spot/mole on the same cheek as well.

There is a "unity" statue of a bird that might indicate that it is Baghdad. However, as pointed out by many Freepers, this tape is old. It was 95 degrees in Baghdad today. The low was probably in the mid 60s. Yet the Iraqis were wearing jackets and long sleeved shirts.

General Downing just asked from Kuwait why on a 100+ day would some people around Saddam be wearing jackets. He said it is hot in Kuwait and even hotter in Baghdad and these people do not look hot!You might be right, John. Wasn't the Desert Fox bombing done in December '98? If so, the film could be of him walking around after that bombing.
To: John H K
I'm not under the movie-created illusions. Yes, we have a limited number of recon satellites, but I'd bet a dollar to a donut that we have them tasked for maximum coverage of Baghdad at the moment. And a crowd should surely be identifiable with 1-meter resolution. And then there are the U2s, maybe Predators, as well.
