As the war enters what appears to be the endgame, it's worth pointing out that everything President Bush promised about the way this war would be conducted has transpired. The bombing is precise and limited to military targets. Civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure are minimal. Humanitarian assistance is arriving. And coalition forces are providing medical attention for injured POWs and civilians.

I heard on some cable news show speculation that US public wouldn't support another war front just now. I don't know how I feel about it. Part of me wants us to get our guys home, although I know we will certainly be a presence in Iraq for a long time.

The pragmatic part of me, says while we have the forces there, let's clean up where need be. But to just march into Syria?? I don't think we'll do that. Perhaps we will have "discussions" with the young king and will make him some offers he can't refuse.

Regardless, it's going to be fascinating to see what happens.

A report I saw last night said that the five that were interviewed on TV were not among the dead (I don't know how they were able to determine that). If the report is true, it means that Chemical Ali has five of our troops, and that's chilling.
