NATALIE SAYS IT WAS JUST A JOKE
Natalie Maines says she was only joking when she told a London concert the Dixie Chicks were ashamed President Bush is from the trio's home state of Texas.
CMT.com says Maines told a New Zealand TV reporter the March 10 remark was "a joke and it wasn't planned. And it was really funny at the time."
Scores of radio stations didn't think so, and stopped playing Dixie Chicks music in protest. The Chicks' single "Travelin' Soldier" plunged on the charts.
"You see the trouble that you can get into if you speak religion or politics," Maines told New Zealand's TV One. "It gets people very upset."

Natalie should have borrowed Sheen's duct tape rather than that shovel she's been using to dig that hole deeper.

Further message to Natalie:
I believe the words you're looking for are..."I was wrong to criticize our President, and I am deeply and profoundly sorry."

I believe the words you're looking for are..."I was wrong to criticize our President, and I am deeply and profoundly sorry." Yep, and it should be said in a press release to all media outlets and said over and over in interviews and before each concert.

There's going to be a lot of damage control to be done during the USA segment of the tour. Stay tuned.

"You see the trouble that you can get into if you speak religion or politics," Maines told New Zealand's TV One. "It gets people very upset." Specially when the speaker is all mouth and doesn't have two synapses to rub together...
To: hispanarepublicana
So far we've seen:
The Dixie Chicks' seditious statement
Backlash against their sponsor
An 'apology'
A non-apology by Unliver/Lipton, their sponsor
Another 'apology'
Lunatic ravings by their manager
A statement that 'we're moving on' from this
And now 'We were just kidding'
If you want to continue to press the Dixie Chicks and make them sweat, the way to do it is through their sponsors. I posted some thoughts on this strategy here:"Why FReeping the sponsors of celebrities works..."

Natalie Maines SUCKS and is a BAD LIAR!
To: hispanarepublicana
"You see the trouble that you can get into if you speak religion or politics," Maines told New Zealand's TV One. "It gets people very upset." this just goes to show you that she really doesn't get it. Her snide remark about our President is far from "speaking politics", it was a direct slap against the Commander in Chief, the mission that our men and women are putting their lives on the line for, and the freedom that we wish for Iraqi's citizens and what we stand for and people count on us for.
She made a snide remark about our President to a crowd that wouldn't have been as receptive to hear a pro-american, pro-military remark so she took the easy road "for the moment."
As in life, shortcuts we take sometimes come back to show us that we made wrongful choices. I've yet to hear her sincerely admit this so I doubt that she wouldn't do the same again if given the chance. The only thing she's sorry for is the drop in income her comments are now causing her pocketbook.

If she really wants to be ashamed of something she should stand in front of a mirror naked!

Natalie will be heard to whine "It was just a joke, a stupid little joke", as her mortgage goes into foreclosure by DITECH and her tour bus is hauled away by a repo man named Vinny.

I would have respected her more if she said, that's how I feel, for those who don't like it...shove it. honestly. Of all the possible explanations, this has to be the lamest. Who on earth gave her this advice? She should have them shot.

Sounds like something my boys would say when they were kids. "I was just jokin'" after being caught making a hateful remark to one of their brothers.
