"It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview with Iraqi state television," said NBC in a statement. NBC, MSNBC, and National Geographic have all fired him.
Arnett on live, apoligizing to "NBC, MSNBC, National Geographic, and the American people." He then goes on to say that all he said in the interview was "what we all know.

He then goes on to say that all he said in the interview was "what we all know. Looks like he and Klintoon have the same "it's not my fault" complex.

It was acting directly as an accomplice to enemy propagandaI can agree that his doing the interview itself regardless of what he said is problematic. In essence his agreement to give them the interview, something he didn't have to do, was the "aid" give the enemy.
I can live with that but the charachterization is he was fired for what he said at the interview.

He needs to be fired at not just fired. 12,000 Volts or three chemicals in his veins might also work.

LOL, well, I'm sure my few shares made no difference but I was going to make a statement of priciple. Guess it's a good thing I can cancel that sell order as the entire market is in the toilet today.

Is it true that a journalist misrepresenting facts to spout the enemy's propaganda line aids those who wish to undermine the government?
Yes.
Should a journalist be fired for admitting that he has as a goal doing so?
Yes. From a purist point because it destroys any credibility he may have had for his reports by calling into question the motivation behind the reports, and from an American point because he is doing something which endangers American lives.

OK..... we did our job with Arnett. I think we can stop the bitterness and move on to the next 'cause". *s*
Time for me to read the thread on Geraldo being kicked out. Damn. And I thought he was gonna open the bunker where Saddam is hiding. *L*

I'm convinced that if Fox News Channel and FR didn't exist, Arnett's treasonous comments would have been applauded by the mainstream media.

I'm crushed just crushed. Now however willl we find out the REAL truth?
Oh well there's always NPR/PBS.

This world class clymer isn't a US citizen is he?
If hie is not a citizen, maybe the US, the UK, Australia and the rest of our allies can prevent him from coming here or the other good countries.
Maybe he can go to France and head up ChIraq's replacement of CNN. Arnet has the perfect character DNA to be a French snake in the grass.

He can get a job with the Iraqi Disinformation Ministry. Will probably only be good for a couple weeks, but can tide him over till he lands that journalism chair at Columbia.

If we could just get her to say them on Iraqu TV!

Thanks for posting that link. I didn't get to see him on The Today Show this morning.
I think Peter's problem is that he doesn't realize that "reporters" are supposed to DO the interviews and get the facts, not BE interviewed and give opinion.
He says he's not going to stay there (likely because he no longer has an expense account provided by MSNBC and National Geographic) but I wonder if NBC will secretly allow him to stay and provide information without airing his mug.

Yes! The tone of many of the Sunday talking heads was an implication of the very same things that Arnett said. George Steponallofus was literally trying to torment Rumsfeld with the same snide rhetorical questions!!! (just for one example of many)

nic??
I'm perusing the cable lineup this morning and lo' & behold who's name do you think I see hosting some inane PMSNBC program tonight?? (Mon, April 1st)
Does the name Keith Obernman (sp?) sound familiar to you?
Yup, sure enough.
A bigger Clinton sycophant & apologist would be very difficult to find, indeed.
The guy's show fell flat on its ass & he was sent packing by this loser cable net a couple years ago, at least.
Well??
Doesn't look like the flop was sent packing very far, eh.
The NY network Liberal-Socialists at NBC have the unmitigated gall to bring back that monsterous, bombastic BOOR *&* communist -- yet again -- for a second run; while, telling everyone how much they're changing their wickedly skewed ways?
No April foll's joke either; so, seems the lesson here is obvious.
...Liberal-Socialists never die or, go away; ever.

Even treason by giving aid and comfort requires the intent to do harm to the US. The man may be stupid but I don't see evidence he wanted harm to come.
One wonders about your ability to tie your shoes.
But you are incitefull, I don't wear tie shoes.
