Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

We bombed the columns coming from Baghdad and food was delivered to that port city. The sandstorm has abated and we're getting on up the road.! 1000 paratroopers floated down and secured an airfield in Kurd territory.Turkey allowed three planes to land that got in weather.

The artillery fire from Ft Hood is so loud tonight it sounds like they're in my backyard. I love to hear the boys training up. It's a beautiful thing.

has taken a position of 'active neutrality' and reiterated that it will not back one side or another in the US-led war. This is what active neutrality means...
Ivanov said 'it is important to work with the media and present accurate information (about the ongoing war) in order to enlighten the world public opinion about the truth so that the invading forces cannot go ahead with their aggression through blackouts'
When Russia and Iran start talking about an emerging humanitarian crisis, we know victory is close.

Artillery, the sounds of freedom.

MCNBC has a large phallic-thing on their live cam web-feed. What is that?
It is a minaret, where birds can take a break and muslims announce their call to prayer,,,

So, the 64 dollar question seems to be: does the tip of the spear have enough oomph to push through to Baghdad?
If not, is there something major going on in the West or the North we don't know about?
If the answer to the foregoing two questions is no, then are we settling in for a long pause until additional troops are deployed? I can't believe that; that would mean the original plan was defective, as we really haven't had all that much go other than as planned.
One impression I do have is that the threat to the supply lines is not as big as some are making it out to be. Yes we have to deploy blocking forces along the line. but there were blocking forces designated for that task and they seem to be doing the job. The Iraqis are only trying small, uncoordinated raiding attacks that the Marines seem to be fending off adequately. Unless and until the Iraquis actually penetrate to and take out some supply vehicles, it strikes me there attacks aren't really a serious problem.
Finally, has anyone heard firm confirmation or denial on the reported discovery of armed chemical warheads with Russian writing all over them?
