Right now, I'd rather have him as my Senator than mrs clinton.

This man was a career pro-abort.

May God have mercy on his soul.

I'm sorry, but a gun grabber is someone who wants me to be defenseless against deadly attack. He would rather have that I be killed, than that I have the ability or freedom to be armed. Frankly, the rest of his efforts must have been pretty damn honorable to more than make up for that fact. But I hope you'll forgive me for not having yet been able to see past this simple and paramountly important aspect of his legislative efforts.

I'll add my voice to those mourning his passing. The thought of sinator hillary! announcing his passing makes me ill, as does the prospect of how she'll behave at his funeral.

Hillary announced on the Senate floor.

The disgusting bitch has to get in the act.

He hated her.

This man KNEW the culture was crumbling and yet lifted not a finger to address the real cause - instead he compounded the problem with the tired and failed liberal/communist tax and spend solution.

I pity anyone whose most notable accomplishment is that he voted to ban partial birth abortion.

His line comparing pba to infanticide sticks with me.

I agreed with him on 2 issues in his last term, pba ban and privatizing social security.

He was one of the last of the few respectable dems.

This guy was on the wrong side, period. That he wasn't as personally obnoxious as the rest of his party is no redemption. When it came down to it, he still voted with the socialist perverts every single time. I am certainly not going to mourn him. Good riddance.

I agree completely. The thing that distinguished Moynihan is that he understood completely the distinction between right and wrong . . . and he sided with the wrong each time.

"I just saw a clip of Hillary giving a "eulogy" for him. I think it was supposed to be about Moynihan, but all she really talked about was her Senate campaign."

Let me guess. She was crying. No?

glad to see some of you aren't weenieing out just because he died.

i agree totally.

moynihan was a pseudo-intellectual, a drunken fool parading around in that ridiculous bow tie.

i will never forgive him for his idiotic comments about how the welfare reform bill would cause panic in the streets, put children out to search for food in the trash bins.

this sick man's faith in humanity was....well, just the same as all other liberals.

while he had flashes of honesty, including calling pba infanticide, rhetorically denouncing communism, and predicting the demise of the black family, he didn't do a damn thing about anything good.

he was a pompous blow hard, a socialist creep.

I do not beleve that he would rather you be harmed because you do not have a weapon. He was misguided on 2nd amendment rights, but after 9-11 a lot of so-called gun grabbers started re-thinking their stance. I hope you will keep up the fight, but in a less strident manner. Take it from me it is far less stressful to win the small battles so you will have your wits and health at the end of the struggle, and enjoy the victory. George Will also thought the world of him. We can all disagree with the man,but judge him for the decent, kind and honorable man he was not the political foe. If this were the clinton's eulogies, I would say "NO COMMENT!"

My source was from my memory of an American Engineering Association Bulletin from about a dozen years ago. Their website is http://www.aea.org/ . I'm sure they'll gladly substantiate whatever you wish.

I believed their account because AEA is the only independent organization to represent American engineers and not academia and large corporations. Among other things, they've spent years fighting H1B legislation in support of American Engineers rather than -- as it has turned out -- importing and training terrorists.

They also spent considerable time trying to restore the safe harbor and ran headlong into the obstacle that was the lobby that had access to Senator Moynihan.

Look Beckett, I know Moynihan is a favorite of a lot of folks. I'm sure, you being well-read, are certainly among them. I am sorry. This is the best I can do. If that, in your opinion, makes me worse than the denizens who turned the perfectly respectable DC swamp into an open sewer, then I guess I know what you are too. I pray I'm wrong.

In the unlikely event I haven't insulted you, and you care a wit, I'll offer why I chose to pass along of writing my lengthy posting (since my tagline obviously wasn't enough).

The point of my note was two-fold:
1) To warn off all these posters, I among them, who are dying to find any pol with character. It is folly to elevate any contemporary pol to saint-hood, and certainly no Democrat of the last 10 years.
2) To remind most FR conservatives (not all conservatives since some obviously benefit in kind) that allowing DC cloak room shennigans to remain unrevealed and uncriticised (such as this particularly costly instance of hidden-from-light-of-day pork insertion) has certainly not helped our cause in protecting our constitution. (Unless they approve of costly and unlevel legislation which its backers dare not provide an opportunity for public debate.)

Probably the only Dem I would have voted for.....(although I lost faith in him when he (at the end) didn't vote for impeachment.

The last of the dying breed is dead? An honest liberal. Damn, who's left, only Allan Colmes?

My only beef with him was that his vacancy gave us Czarina Hillary.

Over the years every time a liberal asked me "Is there any Democrat you DO respect?" The first words out of my mouth were always "Sure, Dan Moynihan." Now, not only do I have to find a new pet Democrat, but once again I have to endure the tacky spectacle of a liberal memorial rally.

Slante Dan. Come ye back when summer's in the meadow.

I note you did not substantiate your charge, but rather expect me to substantiate it for you. Lots of folks don't like H1B, but you are the first I have seen to charge Moynihan with corruption on the matter. You picked a rather odd day to do it too.
