[how about the 1,000 vehicle column coming down from Baghdad? has anything been done about that one?] Not till they get further from civilians.
It's also wise to give the tail end of the convoy time to get far enough away from the city that the number of minutes it takes them to retreat exceeds the number of minutes it takes us to smoke the entire convoy.

Yep. Maybe some of the news is phony. At this stage, I wouldn't rule anything out. Whatever helps us win is okay by me.
I loved Dubya's speech today in Tampa. "Day of reckoning"... Sounds like he was listening to Martina McBride's song from Hannity's program or he read it in the Bible.

Could they have been planning to try to cross over into Iran? That is the way they were headed, by some accounts. Somehow I don't think the Iranians would be welcoming them with open arms. But now we'll never know. Too bad..NOT!

I loved the Presidents speach also and bet it was inspired by the Bible. I don't doubt for a minute we are going to win.

I always wanted to get the "Don't Tread On Me" flag made in subdued colors. I've got one made up as a patch. Black on OD green. They are probably available on the 'net somewhere if you search around a bit. I got mine at a gun show in San Antonio. Intended to put it on a hat, but never got around to buying camo cap.

Last night, either Fox or MSNBC was interviewing a female fighter pilot who had just returned from bombing at Karbala. She was pretty darn good looking, too, and had the nickname "Thumper." Her plane had been hit by lightning, knocking her threat warning system out, but she kept on with the mission. She's from San Antonio, and this afternoon Ricky Ware (San Antonio DJ and talk show host whose been around so long his son is a host on the same station and his grandson has a private pilot's license as does he) interviewed "Thumper's" mother. Turns out both the mother and father are Air Force, although father is retired. Younger brother is a 2nd LT. Another brother also doing something on a local base, not clear if as a civilian or military. "Thumper" derives from "Bible Thumper" as she read a bible verse at the callsign assignment "conference" where ones squadron mates pick a handle for each newbie. Still a very appropriate callsign for these missions. Her mother accidently blurted out her real name, first name that is, and Ricky was a little slow on the mute button, but I won't repeat it to avoid the increased dissemination. She prays before every mission.
And yes, she would kick your ass and mine too.

road to eternity courtesy of the United States Airforce. Actually in that case aircraft from USMC, US Navy and Royal Marines, according to reports I've read.

It's also wise to give the tail end of the convoy time to get far enough away from the city that the number of minutes it takes them to retreat exceeds the number of minutes it takes us to smoke the entire convoy. Not a factor. You hit the rear first, then the front. The rest are stuck in the middle. As on the GW-1 Highway of Death, those in the middle may abandon their vehicles, but either way, you then kill all the stuff in the middle. Don't worry about all those "ants" running out into the desert. They're mostly city boys and the desert will take care of them.

"Is there anyway we could have gotten reliable intelligence prior to the bombing that they are indeed soldiers?"While our intelligence is good, we don't have a crystal ball.

I just read on another thread (a CBN reporter) that the 3rd Infantry found Russian made chemical war heads, about 60 miles south of Baghdad and a missile launcher. So maybe the convoy is headed to take control of, and use the WMD before they are found by the US troops.
I heard Hannity talk about this on his show today. He also said that the 3rd Infantry had captured an Iraqi officer who mixed the chemical! Do you remember the name of that thread? Thanks.

No, I don't remember what the thread was called, but I can tell you what it said. A CBN reporter who is embedded with the Third Infantry Division said that they found chemical war heads with Russian writing on them. They don't know if the missiles are loaded with anything because they can't open them to find out. The missiles are being shipped to a place where experts can examine them.
The thread took a lot of flak for being from CBN, so I doubt if it was long lived. The poster did some research on the reporter and he did have good credentials and sounded credible. If this story turns out to be wrong, it will not be because it came from CBN, in my opinion.

Why did they commit suicide? Maybe the Iraqis are poor tacticians but nobody's that dumb. What on earth is going on? This seems way too easy. Is it some kind of trap? Have the filled the city with anthrax? Do we have a mole in their command structure?
