Politically, we have no choice but to destroy the column. Humanitarily, can't we absorb the shock? Terrorism will still thrive throughout the globe, but I believe it is much weaker than it was before September 12th. The radical Muslim world is going to hate us, even when we do win. They will hate us, no matter what we do. That doesn't mean our fear should keep us in check.

they have Al Jazeera (sp?) reporters ready to take photo's of the massacre to be transmitted to the muslime and Euro world

No, that can't be it. They get all juiced up over pics of "civilians" killed or of dead Americans, but pics of their dead soldiers blown to pieces all over the highway only takes the starch out of them.

It was 38 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

That was one tough chick, and I have no doubt she could kick my butt.

Yup...you gotta watch us Texas women, LOL! Thumper is from San Antonio, her mother is going to be interviewed on KTSA radio in about 5 minutes.

Wild guess: they were trying to sneak up on the Brits under the cover of a sandstorm at night but it backfired because the Brits were ready for them.

Lets hope that the Anti-American AL JAZEERA had some embedded reporters with that unit.

They would be the epitome of EMBEDDED now.

If I recall the interview correctly, her husband is also a pilot, but he was still here in Texas.

I'll bet he's pretty proud of his cowgirl. Yeehaw.

Could they be trying to get downwind of us to release chemical weapons? It would only take one tank to get thru.

I just read on another thread (a CBN reporter) that the 3rd Infantry found Russian made chemical war heads, about 60 miles south of Baghdad and a missile launcher. So maybe the convoy is headed to take control of, and use the WMD before they are found by the US troops.

I don't know how accurate the report is but the idea kind of makes sense.

Does the sandstorm also inhibit their use of chemical weapons?

Yes it does, big time. You want troops close together and stationary. Once a chemical weapon goes off the lethal substance is at the whims of the weather. If you have a sand storm blowing, the nerve gas gets blown off into the desert somewhere and doesn't stick around where it was placed.

"Iraqi column of vehicles leaving Basra have been mostly destroyed but Coalition Forces expend more rounds than planned. "

Actually, that's not a minor detail. If we underestimated the amount of opposition, we may have underestimated ammo requirements. There could come a time when it starts to run low, and that could create a real problem.

Why did they commit suicide?

Close friends of the column say that it had been depressed lately.

I hear Brittany Spears is planning Iraqi military strategy.

She must have really "stepped in it", LOL!

Sorry, couldn't resist...

"I don't know, I keep waiting to hear that it was all a trick, somehow. Maybe they filled the trucks with children or troops who wanted to surrender. "

This is my concern as well. Since these nut-jobs seem to have NO organized fighting force, they are counting on propaganda to win this war for them. I have to say, it has been pretty successful with folks who hate America and some journalists(oh, sorry, same thing!) already.

IMO, they left Basra because it was even more dangerous for them there than out in the open.

Brit Commandoes are eating them up; and the Shiites have lots of sharp knives that have been being sharpened for over a decade.

They had a choice between having their favorite body parts taken away by women, or facing American and British airpower.

They chose to die quickly. That's what I think.

A column of Iraqi tanks and armored personnel carriers poured south out of the Iraqi city of Basra on March 26, 2003 and came under attack from U.S.-led forces, a British military spokesman said. 'There is an armored column that came out of the south-east of Basra down the Al Faw Peninsula and it has been engaged,' said the spokesman at Central Command, battle headquarters for U.S.-led forces, in Qatar.
