Peter Jennings Blames the U.S.
for Saddam Hussein's Cruelty03/24/2003
Last week, the Media Research Center released a report demonstrating that Peter Jennings has offered the most consistently anti-American, pro-evil dictator reporting of any U.S. news broadcast. Not surprisingly, he continues unabated.
Friday night, March 21, at approximately 10:45pm EST, ABC presented a taped interview of four Iraqi women by Barbara Walters. These women, now living in the United States, told horrifying tales of Saddam Hussein's cruelty. Walters finished the interview with agreement by all the women that Iraqi citizens will be "rejoicing when the Americans arrive."
Following the taped interview, Walters joined Jennings live: "One of these women took part in the uprising in 1991 and waited for help, the help did not come, and she finally escaped to this country. So she has somewhat mixed feelings, you know don't ask us to rise up and then not help us."
A legitimate complaint, yet the primary focus of the women's message was an evil dictator's use of torture to keep people subjugated by fear. Rather than expand on their point that Saddam Hussein is a despicable and heinous monster, hated by the Iraqi people, Jennings had this to say:
"Yeah, I think, you know, who's to guess the future, but I think a lot of Iraqis have some mixed feeling. It's often been said by the Iraqis, we'll be greeted by bullets, the U.S. forces, that the U.S. thinks it will be greeted by flowers. But the truth is the United States enabled Saddam Hussein to stay in power for a very long period of time, led the campaign to keep sanctions on him for a long period of time which hurt the Iraqi people and when there was the uprising to which you refer in 1991, the United States, at least in their mind, encouraged them to go and then didn't support them as they had anticipated. So these are issues for the future."
Here are a few points for pompous Peter:
- U.S. 'enabling' of Saddam Hussein ended a long time ago.
- France, Germany, and the United Nations Security Council are chief among his enablers even now.
- Sanctions did nothing to hurt the Iraqi people. Misspending of 'Oil for Food' money on weapons of mass destruction is to blame for any shortage of necessities that they have suffered.
- Most Americans were not in favor of leaving Saddam Hussein in power in 1991, but if Bush 41 had sent Americans troops sweeping on into Baghdad and deposed him, Peter Jennings and pals would have been on the front row screaming about how the U.S. was "breaking the rules".
Apparently no low is too low for 'Appeasement Pete'. No matter how cruelly inhumane Saddam proves to be, Jennings finds the United States far more distasteful. I invite you to contact him with your thoughts. Below is the contact information. And further, encourage your friends, relatives and neighbors to get their news from someone who doesn't openly despise our country.

sanctions on him for a long period of time which hurt the Iraqi people
Of course, Jennings forgot to mention that the sanctions did not prevent Saddam from building dozens of sumptuous palaces.
Not enough money to buy food and medicine for the Iraqi people, despite the oil-for-food program, but enough money to build palaces.

The best way to relay our thoughts to such scum bags, is to watch Fox for our news. Let Jennings blab his sh*t head off into a dead mic-nothing gets past the off switch to our Teevees and radios.

BTTT - thanks for the ping. I'll have to write my letter tomorrow.

I actually heard the Walter's piece on WLS radio the other night. My overall impression was that the women, regardless of America's past mistakes, were in
favor of what's happening in the
here and now.
Jennings and his kind are Injustice Collectors, forever living in the past.

I have not watched this uneducated, Canadian implant on air for about ten years. Usually. I pay no attention to written reports of what he has said. Because it was posted here, I looked at this one. Jennings comments reported here are more reprehensible than his usual bigoted "reporting." The only thing similar is the mental garbage spewed out consistently by National People's Radio. (I listened to NPR coming home from the Rally in Raleigh. I check them from time to time to see what the clueless segment of American society is a) broadcasting and b) listening to. It's a filthy job, but somebody has to do it.)

It's been well noted that ABC has been way out in front in their liberal bias regarding reporting on the war and news leading up to the war. It makes me wonder if there hasn't been a decision at ABC to try to create a faithful audience out of the 20-30% of Americans opposed to the war. From a numbers standpoint, given the competition, if they get a significant portion of that number, they can be successful. They've probably jettisoned any hope of getting conservatives to tune in and maybe have done the same with even moderates. What do you think?

The shareholders need to can Eisner. The new guy can can Jennings.

Peter Jennings is nuts, plain and simple. Jennings hates America, especially President Bush.
I heard him say during one of the war updates during the Oscars that the war started when the President ordered an attack on Saddam's compound to "embarrass Saddam."
Throwing my shoe at the TV, I said: "No, you ignorant fool. The President ordered an attack on Saddam's compound to KILL that vicious, murderous dictator!"
I've stopped watching ABC, and Jennings in particular, because odds are one of these evenings my shoe is actually going to connect with the TV screen~~~and I doubt Mr. Jennings will reimburse me for my loss.
Send Jennings back to Canada where he belongs!

"I can't print what I said to my TV."
Send us all a private E-mail, Howlin, we need to learn all the un-printable language we can, just to adequately express our reaction to the reasoning of the anti-American left. Did I just use reasoning and left in the same sentence?

I was outraged even before he made these comments. Earlier in his show, Jennings demeanor and comments during an interview with 2 anti-war people were sickening. I started to look for ABC's phone number but knew I would begin yelling and didn't want to wake my husband. Jennings is truly a dishonest person and ABC should reprimand him. Bet Jennings wouldn't have the courage to spin his drivel if he sat face to face with those Iraqi women.
To: Peacerose
I have concentrated my ire on WKPT TV, the local ABC affiliate. I let them know that I was ashamed of their station for broadcasting the ABC news programming.

Mainly because the left is the only thing that disagrees with us, and "it's" only answer to bearers of truth, is to kill the messenger. Blame it on our survival instincts.
