In time of war (which this most definitely is) it is incumbent on people with widespread influence (like Rush) to understand the effect negative comments could have both on the troops and the families back home, not to mention the public.

Rush is not a miltary strategist. Personally, I don't think he is much of a political strategist, either, since he always is advocating slash and burn tactics...but I digress.

Bush, Rumsfeld, and Tommy Franks are not going to change their strategy for the Iraqi war based on Rush's comments. Therefore, he should keep negative comments to a minimum, if he cares about morale.

The above comment is given with the caveat that I did not hear the program today. However, I can imagine the comments, having listened to some of his ranting about President Bush's "new tone" policy. In addition, if people only heard a portion and got a negative opinion based on that portion, that is also irresponsible of him, because many of his listeners only hear him in snatches as they make deliveries, sales calls, etc.

That is my opinioin, and I am sticking to it.

Here is close-up's from AJ. Seems pretty clear that at least two were executed, looking at where the entry wounds are. Not something I like to see

whenever I picture people from "that site", I imagine an overly thin guy about 19-22 years old with a big beard. He also has cargo shorts on (probably from Old Navy) and a t-shirt with many stains and many holes that has been washed or sun faded (probably the later) so many times that the "witty" saying on it is hardly readable. He has bushy hair that a) either looks like it hasn't been combed or washed in 3-6 weeks or b) has 5 year old dreds. Just my opinion.

Well, they are doing it. There have been numerous pictures of Iraqis holding white flags posted on FR.

Yes, I and I don't recall any of them being held up dead by any Americans. Some of those white flags have been ruses to kill our troops.

C-Span's been co-opted by the enemy within....left-wing special interest PR agents working full time while Mom and Pop America are busy being Mom and Pop.

With polls showing 70% American support for the war, C-Span remained anti-Bush, anti-war. It's now simply propaganda - paid for by our cable TV $$$.

Where in the world did that term, cakewalk, come from anyway? I never heard it before the action started and now it's all over the place.

Cakewalk from 19th C. minstrels. The one who strutted the best, won cakes.

In application to the press, I attribute it to selective hearing from the press. They don't believe that the President means what he says. The President has stated over and over (and Ari re-iterated at the presser today) this is not going to be easy.

There used to be a game played, at 'social events', church socials etc., called a cakewalk. It involved putting down numbers on the floor and the participants would walk around from number to number to music. When the music stopped, a number was called out, and the person standing on that number won a cake. It was considered an easy and amusing way to have fun. The cakes were donated, of course, by the participants.

The issue is WHEN were they killed and how were the bodies (live and dead) treated!
Nothing to do with pictures of dead people.
KIA can be filmed for documentation, bodies treated as proper to the situation - body bags, identification, burial.
PRISONERS are to be treated as proper to their situation - treat wounds, feed, confine, question, do not beat, and DO NOT SHOOT IN THE HEAD.
Neither prisoners nor KIA are to be used for propaganda, publicly ridiculed, etc. by their captors.
The scene on the Saddam-site suggests that at least four were beaten, stripped, and shot after capture.
Nothing you've seen on CBS has or will show anything like that....remember that the most damaning photo of Vietnam was one of our allies smoking a civilian clad Vietcong; Americans are REAL anti-assasination.

I didn't focus closely on the video, but there was one American who had suffered a fatal head wound but had also suffered a disabling shot in the chest. The chest wound was stanched, but there was no treatment for the head wound.

Without knowing the details of the firefight, it is hard to comment on this. He could have been wounded in the fight and then shot a second time during the fight. I don't know. I just do not think there is enough evidence to say they were executed.

As for the pants being undone, this could have been done for multiple reasons including searching them. Again, I don't know. The problem I have is making accusations that might be proven false later on could come back to be thrown in our face. I would rather be sure of the facts than speculate about things like this. There are plenty of things to be angry about and to get your blood boiling without the speculation.
