FREEP Drudge, ask him to remove Disgraceful Al Jazeera pix
me ^ | March 23, 2003 | FO

Posted on 03/23/2003 9:46:22 AM PST by FairOpinion

I apologize for this vanity post, my first.

But I think Drudge overstepped the boundaries of decency by publishing on his front page a picture from Al Jazeera, showing what is purported to be a picture of an American POW.

The Washington Post has an article on it, in case anyone is not familiar with what happened. So far all American Media has refrained from showing pictures of the Al Jazeera video. For Drudge to put up a picture reduces him to well, I rather not say.

Drudge's EMAIL: DRUDGE@DRUDGEREPORT.COM

Arab TV Shows Captured American Troops http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14406-2003Mar23.html

To Moderator: If you think my post is inappropriate, I apologize and obviously please remove it.

It is not as if this War is over.

The real fighting starts in a day or so.

Those of you without blood and loved ones over there and involved can never understand our passion.

You are fools in my opinion.

The more of this thread that I read about pissing people off in order to get them more involved in the cause the more that I realize that I am dealing with people who play Game Boy and such things...
.
These Troops have families!

DOCTOR STOCHASTIC WROTE: "We are treating the Iraqi POWs as we treat our own people...The Iraqis are treating our POWs as they treat their own people."

EXCELLENT DESCRIPTION of the situation!

What, are you only a child? You don't understand that the internet is not just in the USA? You think the US is the only one to read it?

no, but having been there i can guarantee you that the iraqi people are not reading the drudge report.

Don't bother answering me. I see that you are just here as a disrupter. People like you are the enemy, and I will not answer you again.

really? i was going to recommend a good english grammar for you.

Now now I don't attack my friends like that, I save that type of talk for the liberal commie democrats at other sites. What is it with you?

You mean you aren't a liberal commie democrat pretending to be a FReeper? All you do over here is attack conservatives and sow division. What is it with you?

My being right and sticking to it no matter the slams I get is what has made enemies for me.

Saying that you are right, no matter how many facts are presented to the contrary, has made enemies for you. So has the fact that you often contradict yourself.

You asked, "please explain how such broadcasts help our enemy. again -- would it make you feel more kindly about saddam? or do you merely think that your fellow citizens are idiots?"

I did my best to answer. Sorry you don't get it.

According to the DRUDGE REPORT the families have been notified.

Warning: This link has graphic pictures

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN MARCH 23, 2003 16:17:38 ET XXXXX

MEDIA BOOMERANG

The microphone reads "IRAQ TV." The screen shows supposed stock market arrows. The station is Al-Jazeera, a mock of Ted Turner's CNN. And on Sunday satellite news turned nightmare as Arab television aired footage of dead American soldiers, some sprawled in a room, and interviews with five U.S. prisoners.

Turner, who once bragged how the invention of all-news global TV brought on the fall of communism at the end of the Cold War, must now be taking a pause at this all-news boomerang.

The 6-minute video which beamed on Sunday showed mankind at its worse -- and Iraqi fighters at their most animalistic.

Disgust and horror do not describe the viciousness of the images. One Iraqi man is captured smiling over dead Americans. Soldiers pants are pulled down, the camera zooms in for a close up of bullet holes in heads as "Al-Jazeera Exclusive" is stamped on the screen.

The DRUDGE REPORT has wrestled with providing the complete video feed to its readers. The families of the murdered U.S. troops have been notified. And if anchormen and others in the media have viewed it, why can't the average citizen?

With a banging conscience, faces of the dead and captured cannot be shown in this space.

But with that same conscience is the total anger, and the feeling many of us have become too desensitized to the atrocities.

While I find the pictures disgusting and outrageous, I think they need to be there as a reminder for those who defend Saddam Hussein, like those anti-war commie weasels.

If someone doesn't want to see it, they should avoid the Drudge website.

I read most of this thread, but I'm not sure that anyone has brought this thought to topic.

The military has allowed reporters to be embedded with troops in Iraq. There was a gunfight shown on TV today, and reporters are talking live on air when sirens are being sounded.

I believe it was All Jezebel TV showing Iraqis this morning by the river bank looking for downed soldiers. If they could have they would have tortured and killed someone right there with glee.

We might be seeing more live barbarism involving our brave soldiers before this is over. This may not be exactly the same as showing the pictures of these beloved soldiers after their capture. Just a thought.

Watching the animals shooting into the river today in the hopes of killing a downed pilot was just so stomach turning. My rage is getting the best of me.

However, I just can't agree with you about showing the pictures of our dead and captured.

Notice too the media helping the america hating protestors by not showing the huge sign in San Francisco that said.......WE'LL SUPPORT THE TROOPS WHEN THE SHOOT THEIR COMMANDERS

No, leave them up on Drudge and elsewhere.

Let the American so-called "peace protesters" and the rest of the world see what kind of people we are dealing with.

Let every GI going into combat see them, so they will know how to deal with any Iraqi who does not fully, completely and instantly comply with every surrender instruction given to them.

Let those around the world who see Islam as a "religion of peace" see what these Islamic people consider peaceful.

Never, never, never forget.

As the soldiers are not recognizable, I'm not sure posting these photos was entirely bad. How else are we supposed to comprehend the disgusting mindset of the scum that perpetrated this, or those who filmed it for propaganda purposes? (All of whom should be tracked down and tried for war crimes, if it is feasible to find them.)
Let's face it, the Muslims of the mideast have no respect for human life, human rights, or anything else that is valued in the west.
We've saved Muslim lives in Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and many other places. Our reward is portrayed in these photographs - death, death, death. They kill our civilians while we protect theirs, they kill aid workers, missionaries, and any other category of non-Islamic human being that makes the mistake of walking into their grasp.
Perhaps we should stop liberating the people in these Arab societies and instead, close off their nations to the rest of the world and let them inflict their "civilization" on each other - which they will surely do if they are denied the opportunity to kill the rest of us.
The people in these nations, while unable to build anything worthwhile on their own, delight in every failure that occurs in the nations that have outdone them. Witness their reaction after the Columbia tragedy, when they danced in the streets, claimed it as a blessing from Allah, or punishment because the Columbia was "spying" on them.
These people are not civilized and do not deserve to be considered as such. There was a news story recently about an Arab League meeting to discuss the then-coming war. Nothing was accomplished because the delegates were too busy screaming insults at each other ("your mother was a goat" was a good example of what passed for civilized debate at this meeting).
The future of the Arab nations is clear - when the oil runs out, the rest of the world is in trouble if we haven't prepared for it. Their leaders prepare them for no future, and they will come after ours.
This message is not meant to be a final conclusion, even on my part, on the Arab nations of the mideast, but we need to view current events without automatically accepting the PC filters that keep telling us how the behavior is not indicative of the Islamic public at large. We need to also consider the possibility that this behavior IS indicative of the citizenry of these nations, and ask ourselves what the proper response is if that is the case.
