I apologize for this vanity post, my first.
But I think Drudge overstepped the boundaries of decency by publishing on his front page a picture from Al Jazeera, showing what is purported to be a picture of an American POW.
The Washington Post has an article on it, in case anyone is not familiar with what happened. So far all American Media has refrained from showing pictures of the Al Jazeera video. For Drudge to put up a picture reduces him to well, I rather not say.

I'm firmly of the opinion that what's on the Drudge Report right now is 100% legitimate news reporting.
DRUDGE: MEDIA BOOMERANG: 6-minute video which beamed on Sunday showed mankind at its most animal...

Publishing photos of downed and tortured soldiers encourages the enemy to believe it's winning, and thereby prolongs the hostilities. The fellow citizens about whom I am concerend are the families of the downed and tortured soldiers. Any more questions?

"please explain how such broadcasts help our enemy. again -- would it make you feel more kindly about saddam? or do you merely think that your fellow citizens are idiots?"Listen Dep...our military is on a campaign to get the People of Iraq to rise up against their despotic leader. We are going to great lengths to show them that we are going to get rid of this regime. When they show these pictures, it is to intimidate the Iraqis. To show them that the USA isn't strong enough to conquer Saddam! It is designed to intimidate the people to keep their mouths shut and not to rise up against the regime! These people of Iraq have endured this for 30 long years....they have had their children, parents, wives and husbands tortured like this or worse. It does not make them feel more kindly twords Saddam, or more angry. It makes them feel more afraid, and apt to keep their mouths shut! That is how these pictures help our enemies.
I don't know about the person who you posted this to, but I think that anyone who posts those photos, or wants to see them, is an idiot.

That is a brutal link.
I understand that we need to be informed.
I am not pleased with images being posted of our Volunteers who are now dead.
Those Troops have families.

You mean the same pictures I've found (and clicked on) multiple links to on FR?
At least be consistent.

Earlier on Sunday, a TV commentary recalled that the Iraqi leader had sent a message to Washington after the 11 September terror attacks, on the possible reasons for the attacks, but the Bush administration had failed to heed his advice
What does that mean?

Matt Fonda Drudge is aiding the enemy.
I emailed him and told him what a piece of garbage he is.
Matt Fonda Drudge is profiting from the deaths and captures of these heroes.
The families have not even been informed yet!!!!!
I can hardly wait to seem him again.
Matt youre an F***ing piece of white scumbag trash.
Barbara ( and you know how much I hate her) was right!
"On CBSs Face the Nation, Rumsfeld said that if those are coalition soldiers being shown on the Al-Jazeera TV footage, those pictures are a violation of the Geneva Convention.
Traitor Drudge.

I am correct most of the time around here and that has made me enemies of former friends. Can you believe anybody would make a statement like that?
I was under the impression you had to respect somebody's opinion before be a friend, weren't you?
He is, plain and simple, a disruptor.

You know, I agree with you. People do so very much need to wake up. That madman needs to be dealt with and the coalition can do so. I also think that their (Iraqi) promise to treat the POW's right is not going to happen.
As for the pictures - well, I do think that it should have waited until the families were notified first.
Personally, I truly hope that the first bombing (the one of opportunity) took that insane _____ out.
To: Libertina
I have to disagree with you.
There are plenty of images to show that demonstrate that evil exists.
Showing the cadavers of recently dead heroes in this fashion is an effing disgrace.
What is the major malfunction here?
Put yourself in the position of being related to those heros.
What the eff is wrong with you people?

Rumsfeld said that if those are coalition soldiers being shown on the Al-Jazeera TV footage, those pictures are a violation of the Geneva Convention. No matter WHO shows them.
And Matt showed them for web hits. Charming.

our military is on a campaign to get the People of Iraq to rise up against their despotic leader.no! you don't say. is there a thread around here someplace about it?
We are going to great lengths to show them that we are going to get rid of this regime.
really? all this has been for show? i could have sworn i heard somewhere we actually planned to do it. you really believe it's all just to fool 'em?
When they show these pictures, it is to intimidate the Iraqis.
the iraqis who read the drudge report? do tell. your tale gets more fascinating all the time!
To show them that the USA isn't strong enough to conquer Saddam!
really? you think that drudge's readers are en masse writing the president after having seen the pictures, telling him to give it up, we can't possibly win?
It is designed to intimidate the people to keep their mouths shut and not to rise up against the regime!
yes, matt's readers are a scrappy lot unless shown unpleasant pictures. no doubt about that.
These people of Iraq have endured this for 30 long years....they have had their children, parents, wives and husbands tortured like this or worse.
making it all the more remarkable that they have time to surf the web, doncha think?
It does not make them feel more kindly twords Saddam, or more angry. It makes them feel more afraid, and apt to keep their mouths shut! That is how these pictures help our enemies.
you think that drudge's readers -- this thread, after all, being about drudge putting up one and now more of those pictures -- have become frightened as a result, and will not talk to the authorities, and believe that they are doomed to be ruled by saddam hussein? is that what you really think?

What, are you only a child? You don't understand that the internet is not just in the USA? You think the US is the only one to read it?
Don't bother answering me. I see that you are just here as a disrupter. People like you are the enemy, and I will not answer you again.
