(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.
"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.
Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.
The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.
The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.
Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.
The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

Yeah, one of the guests talking to Rita Cosby said something along those lines. That this could be a serious "fifth column" enemy-within problem in the ranks and they better find out who this guy knew, who his contacts were, and such.
I'm just sitting here stewing over this...just steaming...they just showed pictures of our wounded men being taken to the hospital over there.
I can't say anymore. None of it would be polite, and would only get me in trouble here.
I'll take it out on my T.V. instead...

I don't see how 'black' is relevant in this situation. Muslim clearly is relevant, but I'm unclear why 'black' matters. If this was a "white supremicist", the word white would be in every headline. If this is in fact a black muslim, then black has everything to do with it because black muslims are black supremicists and racists. Why do you think Malcom X was assassinated? Because he saw that his black supremisist views were wrong and wanted to reach out to whites as equals. The black muslims killed him for this.

Not bang, I think it might be a hanging offense, honestly.
Any military guys here with the correct info on this?

Thank God that people didn't let Tim McVeigh define white Christians in their mindSince Christians condemn killing and muslims imbrace killing your analogy does not work. Christians hated what McVeigh did, muslims love the killing of infidels.

The embedded reporter said the suspect walked along a row of command tents and rolled a grenade in each of the Colonel's tent, the Majors' tent and the Captains' tent.
He was trying to frag the entire command of Camp Pennsylvania.

So you are suggesting that the Constitution be amended then to remove the freedom of religion from it?

But even though I comprehend there is a serious problem with the muslim extremism in the world, I do not at all buy into the idea that even one in 10 muslims in the world are fanatics who want to harm you and me. Fine. 1 in 100 then?
1 in 1,000?
No offense, but even one in ten thousand is enough justification for us to start cracking down.

All Muslims are evil, since they follw an evil cult, and read a satanic load of garbage called the Quo'ran.
To: Radix
True, but part of the problem is that mainstream muslims in this country are the mouthpieces of the Saudi theocracy. Until the US moves to curtail the hateful fundmentalist wahabbi blather and back room financing by the Saudis, they are the only voices we are going to hear.
The Saudis are the root of 90% of these problems.

Perhaps my last post to this thread.
Let's take a look at a good number of conflicts in the world.
Islam vs. Christianity
Islam vs. Judiasm
Islam vs. Hinduism
Islam vs. Buddhism
Islam vs. Atheism
Can anybody tell me the common element in all of these conflicts? Psst . . . it's not the "vs."

The anti-Muslim rhetoric gets pretty damn annoying.
Fact: No organized religion is free of atrocities committed by individuals or groups of individuals in the name of said religion.
Fact: Religion does not fly planes, pull triggers, nor throw hand grenades. People do. Cf. "guns do not kill people, people do."

Pull-quote duly noted. It's in a frame, so it will probably be in many stories to come.

This would set back the cause for Muslims to be accepted in American Society a long way. In my time I have been called gregarious, garrulous, loquacious, motor-mouth, and often answer "here" when someone yells, "shut up!," but this time I am speechless.

As a resident of Pennsylvania I can't begin to say how much this enrages me. There are all kinds of isolated places in my state where we could deal with the perpetrator(s) of this crime...with finality.
